Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a great trip kayaking along Ngunguru river. Perfect for our beginner level of kayaking. Despite the drizzling rain at one point, the river was calm and our guide timed it all well so we weren’t going against the tide. Our pit-stop break for coffee along the way was just the re-fuelling that we needed. Our guide, Mark, was patient and made us feel at ease and safe out on the water. Recommend!

What a great kayak tour to Limestone Island. Thank you to our friendly guide, Mark, who was an excellent teacher particularly for us who were beginners on a sea kayak. Beautiful part of the country to visit. If you are looking for a guided kayak tour in Whangarei, we recommend using Pacific Coast.

Mark led us on an outstanding day of kayaking and snorkeling through the Reotahi Marine Reserve. Mark is an excellent guide who is well versed in the local natural and human history. He is truly concerned that his guests have a memorable but safe day on the water.

I just can't give this enthusiasm as we kind of wasted a precious day. We kayaked alongside a military port and gas refinery, which was godawful ugly. The snorkeling? was appropriate for very small children -- it was just unfortunate to be in New Zealand and have our guide opt for this as a destination. He's a nice guy running a one man show.

et with Mark, who helped with organizing the whole thing. Honestly made the experience a lot easier.

All of us had a lot of fun, and they go over different techniques for beginners like us.

Well worth the time and money to visit and do.

Also, A+ for meeting with us at our end point destination as we were thinking it would be difficult to find them afterwards.

Would definitely going again and exploring a different area.

Must try.

Great tour with the best guide. Amazing views and very manageable track, even for complete beginners.
Mark our guide was friendly, experienced, knowledgeable and very patient. Also prepared a lovely cuppa in the middle of the tour which made the trip even better!

Awesome day spent kayaking, took us through Ngunguru river and out into the harbour. Tailored the trip to make it fun but suitable for us beginners. Mark was super flexible and very knowledgeable about the wildlife and landscape of the area. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a fun day out.

Spent a lovely Sunday morning kayaking waitoi creek. The kayaks are great quality and Mark (our guide/the owner) really tries to tailor the boats to suit the paddlers.

Mark is very knowledgeable about the history, nature and birdlife of the area which made the paddle even more enjoyable.

Mark is very experienced and has lots of variety of trips to choose from. We will definitely be booking another trip!

We visited the area in the winter which meant that the weather was a factor in our kayaking tour. Mark and I were in contact since March to schedule our kayaking trip in June. He stayed in communications with me and we tentatively planned a date. When it got closer the weather wasn't looking like it would cooperate. He emailed me and let me know we could do a river trip or wait and go the following day for better weather. We chose to wait for better weather and go out on the ocean! It was a great trip with perfect weather! We enjoyed Marks company and the knowledge he shared with us about the wildlife and the area. He was patient and gave good instructions on how to kayak on the ocean (we were first timers kayaking on the ocean!). We loved it and would definitely recommend!

We went on a half day sea kayaking tour with Mark and it was great! We had gotten lost and were late, and since we were the only ones on this tour, Mark graciously waited for us and then still took us out for our entire time which we so very much appreciated. He gave us some good kayak review pointers before starting out, and then the kayaking was beautiful. He took us to Limestone Island which was nearby and the history and relics still on the island were so interesting. It was fun to get out of the kayaks and hike and eat on the island, and then get back in and do more kayaking. It was a great half day experience and Mark was so knowledgable, friendly and an excellent guide. We were so glad we did it!!
