Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This gallery would put most art galleries in major towns to shame.
There was a wonderful collection of quality art and craft to appreciate.
Staff were helpful.
The food was fantastic-the coconut porridge is the best porridge ever....

We stopped at the Little River Gallery on the way from Christchurch to Akaroa.
There was an exhibition of acrylic paintings on canvas of native birds with beautiful turquoise water scenes and symbolism, by Nelson artist Kathryn Furniss.
We stopped again on our return for a tasty cup of Hummingbird coffee, which they were also selling in packets and some lovely freshly prepared food.

One of the absolute best galleries we have been to. Such unique and beautiful handicrafts and artworks on offer. Very talented locals!

We stayed next door at the Silostay so obviously had to have a wee look here. The art work is amazing but the service is lacking. There was a lady on the counter who didn’t even look anyone in the eye, say hello or smile as people walked in and were having a look around. No offer of help or more information on the artwork. We were very interested in buying a piece of art to remember our fantastic trip by but the lack of service put us off.

This place had some well made and imaginative objects for sale, which are no doubt produced by important innovative artists, however the prices they were charging was unrealistically high. It would be interesting to find out the margins involved in comparison to the percentage that goes to the artists.

Although we didn’t buy anything, this is a very impressive shop with a great range of New Zealand books, arts and jewellery.

A must visit. This Gallery which is attached to a fabulous cafe, is definitely worth looking through. One of the most impressive we have encountered in NZ.

We invested some time, on a return visit, looking over the art and books in this interesting gallery. Came away with a lighter wallet too, and some Christmas shopping done.
