4 reviews
This is Private 6 hours sailing experience (from 10am to 16pm). The boat will be reserved just for you and your guests. We will cruise through the Gulf of Catania, see the Etna and Catania by the sea, sailing along the Coast of the Cyclops, swim in front the Ulisse's Grotto. At Lunch time we will go first in front the medieval Castle of Aci Castello, then we will stop the boat in front of the Faraglioni Rocks near the natural reserve "Isole dei CICLOPI", there you can go dive or snorkeling renting the equipment (Extra option) or have fun swimming around the sailboat in that crystal waters. In the while time we will prepare the lunch on board to let you enjoy a typical sicilian menu prepared on board from our sailor chef. At the end we will set the sail to go back to Catania port and we will provide some sailing notions or we can continue with the party on boat.

Very beautiful (but steep!) village. Not so touristic and therefore great to see the authentic Sicilian life. However, we wouldn't recommend a prolonged stay because it has little amenities (there's no supermarket and few restaurants) and things to do and see are quite a drive away.

Sicily is a marvelous place to visit, full of history, gorgeous landscapes, Greek and Roman treasures of every type. Sicily has some terrific and popular sites to visit. The most popular are well known tourist places such as Mount Etna, the most active volcano of Europe, towns such as Taormina, Cefalù, Palermo, Agrigento, Erice and many others. Here I want to talk about some roads less travelled. By this I mean some beautiful Sicilian mountain towns. In 2002 a wonderful book came out by a New York Times travel writer, Theresa Maggio called “The Stone Boudoir.” The book tells the story of her travels through these towns, one of them, Geraci Siculo, is my hometown, which I left as a 12 year old, some 65 years ago. Other towns nearby are Polizzi Generosa, Petralia, Castelbuono, Sperlinga, Gangi, and many others. For this review I will limit it to Geraci Siculo, which I’ve now visited some 15 times in the last 40 years. Here you will see how a typical small town Sicilian lives. Geraci dates back to the Greek period which lasted some four hundred years BC; the name Geraci is from the Greek Jerax. Many of the structures are as early as the 7th century AD. There is a varied choice of places to stay. On our recent trip of May 2018, we stayed at a new B&B called B&B Porta Baciamano. A lovely well designed remodel of an old house, with three rooms, each with a separate entrance. We were provided with breakfast of many different pastries, as well as fruit, cheese and bread; not mention the spectacular view of the mountains from the balcony and windows. There are other excellent places to stay. In the town Piazza, there is a convent, Collegio di Maria, that offers rooms for rent. Just down the street from the Piazza, on the main street in town, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, 77 there is a new B&B which is on the second floor of a new beautiful gift shop called Notti o’tunn. Geraci now boasts of a wonderful new restaurant, Yerax, il bel Mangiare, where you will be dazzled by the local cuisine. We had lunch there and it was fabulous. You will not find any typical tourist sites but you will see a medieval style of living that you will see nowhere else.

This is an example of a typical 'small, hilltop village' in Sicily. It is rugged with very little accommodations for visitors. The restaurants are few and far between. However, the views from the town are incredible!

This is a small town in the middle of Sicily that has retained an old charm without touristy kitsch. Very little in the way of tourist infrastructure but the kind of place you'd like to stay a while. Great water. A nice place on its own but also good for a respite away from the hustle and turmoil of Palermo.

I went to Palermo, Sicily because my family immigrated from there to the U.S. I am only the second generation here. Upon searching for Geraci's in Sicily near Palermo, I found the magical mountain town. I visited with my son and his wife, and we were truly mesmerized. The town is as it was when it was built; such beauty and simplicity with architecture that overwhelms. The air, the water, the people, the way of life is enviable. The views from the mountain and its homes are superb. I would love to go back to stay for a while.
