Must see for Steiff fans and people with children
I had to say that I was a bit surprised about the 12€ entrance fee with I thought was rather high considering it is a brand loyalty measure. But as soon as I entered the museum with was more like a (very low tech) Disney ride and an experience I was very pleased. Everything was lovely with lots of details and a nice little story. The begin is an attraction for itself. At the end there is a great exhibition and of course a gift shop. The outlet shop was unfortunately not open and only opens on the weekends but the store had some outlet articles besides a great selection of Steiff articles. Staff very friendly- parking included with museum entrance fee. Great place to visit

    Not just for children
This was a spontaneous stop on our journey and we were pleased we made it. The museum is in the grounds of the Steiff factory. There is parking at around €2 per hour. The museum is well thought/ set out, starting with the background of the start of the production of soft toys, moving on to an adventure to find lots of teddy bears, a display/ petting zoo of their works, and finally a closer look at the making and history over the years. The first part is done at intervals in various languages, we heard it in English, the people before us were another ( non German) language. You finish up in the gift shop with the opportunity to make purchases. We were a group of 50-80 year olds, all enjoyed it. There is a small cafe bistro on site and lunch there was nice, vegetarian options available. Would recommend if in the area.

    Remembering Childhood Memories
We visited the museum as this is the birthplace of the teddy bear. It is a joyful and eventful experience. It costs €12 for adults but less for children. There’s a cafe although we did not use this. As well as the Gift Shop in the museum, there is a Factory Outlet in an adjacent building but it seems to be open only at weekends. Just follow the painted paws outside the rail station at Giengen. It’s great to take small children (there is a play area and a slide in the museum ) but as adults it’s also a joyful way to remember your childhood! There are also exhibits showing the history of the teddy bear and other toys as well as information as to how they make the teddies today. I highly recommend the visit for both adults and children alike.

Went out of my way to call in here with a pocket full of money to buy my Granddaughter aged 2 some clothes and shoe/boot factory outlet bargains. I can honestly say I can get a better choice and price online in UK, I didn’t buy her anything, and just to put salt on the wounds they charged me for parking on my way out for looking around their shop. So disappointed and I won’t be going back

An extraordinary museum. You are taken to the beginnings of plush toy production, to the workshops of the Steiff family. Then you go on in the elevator to look for the lost teddy bears. A wonderful journey, not just for children. Afterwards there are lots of animals to admire and climb on, and there is also a slide integrated into the museum to let off steam. You can look over the shoulders of employees as they sew plush toys. A trip here is definitely worth it.

The museum was by far the most beautiful museum we have been to in recent years. It was totally lovingly decorated, the multimedia performance was beautiful, surprising and very appealing created. We really enjoyed the time at the museum and told everyone about it.
However, I would have liked to have a level with the Steiff animals that have been produced in all these years. Also I would have found extraordinarily interesting to take a look at the actual factory.

The admission of EUR 12.- is a proud price.
The tour is worth seeing and the exhibition beautiful. Some plush toys can even be touched and have the opportunity to sit on a life-size Steiff elephant. There is also a shop, a bistro and also an outlet shop.
Parking is very expensive and should be really discounted at this entrance fee
or even be included.

Steiff Museum, famous for having sewn the first soft toy. Romantic and modern museum, with a fantastic lift that catapults you among the puppets. Some flaws though. Everything in German... but Italian, French, English, Chinese tourists... aren't they expected? And then... the price of the puppets in the shop... really exaggerated! Outside there is an outlet that sells at lower prices.

Oh you've so got to go to this place, it takes you back to being a child again.
First of all you get a short talk on how Steiff came about whilst looking at a small stage that had moving articles on it. You next went to hear a teddy bear talk about how things are made, whilst this is happening, the floor went up to another level, near a teddy bear cloud, you then got off to look at so many stuffed toys of different sizes, some you could sit on and have photos taken. After you had your fill of this, you went down a slide to the bottom level (you can use the stairs ). On this floor they had the history of the Bears and other toys and could watch how they are made.
Then you were guided into the shop in the hope that you would buy something, the prices are very high. There are a couple of houses with shops in them on the outside and also somewhere where you can get a tea/coffee.
A lovely place to visit, children would love it.

Enjoyed a half day visit here which was included in a Shearings trip to Bavaria and the Romantic Road and it was certainly worthwhile, the highlight of the the week. From entering the museum it is fabulous the way the story is told, it is magical. Naturally the visit ends in the shop and you can't possibly leave without a bear or two. Very highly recommended for everyone. Loved it.

Admittedly I am a big Steiff fan, so this review is probably biased. However the museum is so beautifully constructed and developed that I challenge anyone not to be positive about it. Our 2 year old was entranced by the initial exhibits (in which a bear has been set up to ‘talk’ to you). Overall this is a charming and well designed exhibit that I cannot recommend highly enough.

My family and I have been Steiff collectors since the late 1960s (and could probably open our own museum!) so I have wanted to visit where it all began for a very long time--finally had the chance when I went to Munich. 2 hr train ride and quite easy to find the museum--Giengen is very proud of the Steiff connection--by following the paw prints. As a solo adult I moved quickly through the first part of the tour to what I really wanted to see--the wonderful displays of Steiff creations from all decades since 1903. Of course a few souvenirs were purchased! I had time to kill after so I wandered the charming little town--it was market day--and having an excellent lunch outside at the Hotel Lamm--highly recommend the maultaschen.
