Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Every inch of Pitchford Hall is covered in history, intrigue, religion, royalty, politics, heritage and even paranormal activity.

We visited Pitchford Hall for a guided tour booked through Historic Houses. Our guide was a local volunteer - John. He really knows his stuff and how to keep everyone interested. Our tour lasted about two hours and took us from pre Roman through Roman, medieval, Georgian, Victorian right up to present. All finished off with a lovely cup of tea and home made cake. If you like history, architecture, or just beautiful sites this is one not to be missed. Many thanks.

This property is not yet open to the public as there are major restoration works in hand. It is to be hoped that the house will open to the public at some stage as it is a fascinating property with lots of history. We did the tour in company with the owners under the auspices of Historic Houses Association. If you get the chance to visit you will not be disappointed.

House and garden tours can be booked through Historic Houses website. They are conducted by members of the family who are renovating this magnificent property while living in it and bringing it back to life. It is truly a hidden gem. You will learn much about the history of the estate, way of life and family connections going back centuries from those who live and breathe this wonderful place. Relax and chat at the end of the tour - about 90 minutes- with tea and homemade cake.

A coachload of us arrived at Pitchford Hall late one afternoon last week, having been travelling for most of the day and not really looking forward to the visit, despite knowing the fascinating history of the Hall.
Once we arrived however, and everyone saw Pitchford in real life, the atmosphere was charged and we were keen to get inside & see everything! James welcomed us to their home and despite us arriving rather later than arranged, he ensured we were well looked after by our guides, both of whom were obviously enthusiastic about the Hall. Anyone who appreciates the atmosphere and character of these types of buildings and are not just looking for a "stately home" to visit, will not be disappointed although I'm afraid to say that we didn't see one of the rumoured ghosts!

This place is one of the Shropshire gems! It was owned by the Colthurst family until 1992 when they were forced to sell the Hall the contents were sold at Christie's. It was bought by a Kuwaiti princess who wanted the property for a stud farm. The property became neglected over the next 25 years. Happily daughter Rowena Colthurst & her husband were able to buy it back in September 2016. They live & work in London but try to spend as much time as possible in their country seat. They have worked really hard to repair the roof, make safe & rewire the the many rooms & clear the overgrown gardens. There is much to do, this is a huge & challenging project.
Pitchford Hall is now a member of the Historic Houses Association. We toured the house & many of the rooms had lovely oak paneling, some lovely ceilings & fireplaces. There is a beautiful tree house in the grounds; the tree in which it nestles is 400 years old! There is also an Orangerie which will be spectacular after rennovation. The stables quadrangle has some small cottages as well as a Blacksmith's & a huge Dovecote. The kitchen area even had an original Tudor cooking range.
The visit we made was through the HHA, which cost ÂŁ14.00 a ticket. This included a cream tea!
It will be interesting to return to this fascinating historic building.

Stayed at Tree Barn cottage in the grounds .
Nice cottage and comfortable -all that is needed for a weekend stay.
Instructions to find Barn are poor and was found after asking others. There is no reception and the key has to be found in a location near the barn.
Owners need to improve signage and access road.

We booked a tour of Pitchford Hall and today went to visit. We were welcomed and shown round their home by the lovely family who are renovating their property. We had a really great tour round a beautiful building and gardens, orangery and tree house. Finished with tea and cake...perfect afternoon out. Wish them well in their continued renovation and development of this beautiful family home.

Rented this for my wife’s 50th Birthday and could not have found a better venue. Huge space where up to x 14 of us could spread out and watch TV ( could do with a larger TV), play games in the games room which could do with some improvements in amount of games and snooker table, darts etc.
Great kitchen where you can sit around the large table whilst preparing dinner to be served in the huge dining room with open fire. Great to have the enclosed large garden where the dogs could run without any chance of escape or interference to others on the estate. Nice walks around the lake and outlying buildings meant a great weekend was had by everyone.
Spent time looking around some of the house that has yet to be restored and loved every minute of the weekend. Would recommend this for anyone who wants to chill out with friends and family.

Sorry Joel....I didn't see your message until now! Pitchford Hall, along with many other privately owned and wonderful houses can be visited by contacting "Invitation To View". We live in Suffolk and have been to many magnificent local houses through this company. Happy holidays!
