Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We managed to turn the bus and all had an opportunity to see and hear what the park has to offer locals and visitors. It was well used for camping as a public holiday. Everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun especially over by the creek.

We went for an evening run. There are a few options of different difficulties. The Summit run goes through beautiful NZ bush. Will definitely be back.

Camped here for one night, great swimming spot for family.
Fire pit was brilliant sitting around campfire at night roasting marshmallows. (Make sure to bring some wood) Very basic toilet facilities but fine for a weekend.
There was a food festival happening that weekend too so it was nice to wander over and check that out before heading back to the relative tranquillity of the campsite.
A bit of road noise where we were camped, assuming the road is popular with motorbikes. But otherwise a nice spot to get away and we will definitely go back. Good for groups, families or on your own.

Every so often I am drawn to this place. I like to retrace the steps of the battle so I follow the trail up the hill as one opponent hopelessly chanced another to come to grips with it. This is shown through display boards as you ascend the slope.Once at the top, well even before that in fact views open up for you of the district and you understand the location for this engagement. It is step but I adopted at slow pace and rested and read at the display boards, so I got to the top in about 30 minutes. You can then descend back through the native forest following a creek walking back to the camping ground. Yes you can camp here, but I suspect in summer it will be quite busy. Note that there are a lot of other activities to do here.

We dipped in here whilst taking a back road between the Kapiti coast & Wellington. Free entry. Plenty of walks to choose from, well described. On a Tuesday the campsite was deserted. No dogs allowed, not even staying in the car.
We were delighted to find the Long Fin Eels, a big writhing group in a shady bend in the stream near the park offices. They obviously expected to be fed! But we had no mince with us. The eels made our quick visit worthwhile, having paid for see them at Nga Manu in Waikanae.

We just arrived in New Zealand and this was our first camping adventure. My son enjoyed jumping and swimming at the creek/swimming hole. We also enjoyed our our Battle Hill walk.

If you want to experience a little of kiwi wilderness, you got to come to this place and spending a relaxing day checking out the old sheep yard, the little house and the vegetation around and the little stream running through the property.

There are some farm animals around for people who have only seem those from the pictures. Check the schedule before you go and do the little tracking. There can be some festivals at times at the farm. Very lively and good exercise ground for family bounding. Highly recommended.

I really adored the whole day of walking on the farm territory. I wish I could also bring my MTB there, but it is a bit long way from the train station.
Also I enjoyed crossing a small creek that was flooding over the road to the camping ground on my motorbike.

a great place to spend an hour or a day - with good easy walks, some a little bit more difficult, and the ultimate the Puketiro Loop. this is a great hiking track, pretty steep, around 400m high, with fantastic views towards Mana Island and beyond. battle Hill station is a working farm, so there is always lots to see and do and family friendly..

Awesome place to bring the kids.Lots of walks and swimming hole, plus added bonus of some farm animals around.
Also great MTB ride up the Puketiro Loop track, tho am unsure whether this is still accessible due to work at transmission gulley.Either way, lovely place to visit with the kids.Pack a picnic or use the fire pits.AWESOME!!!
