busy at this time of year (well 15 people)but friendly and calm compared to others' comments about other hot water locations. half local tourists, half travellers.

Went out at low tide, dug on yellow pole line, but unable to find hot water (along with everybody else). Great atmosphere and views more than made it worthwhile. A local told us that there is a smell of sulfur when there is hot water.

As the hot water spring is only available at low tide, we made sure we visited at low tide. Not sure if it was just a high low tide or not, but within 20 mins of the springs being uncovered, the tide was coming back...More

We changed our plans when we heard about this place, and were glad we did. Make a note of low tide, get some shovels and get digging. Amazing experience!

Don't want this to become another spot teaming with tourists. Isolation may help. stunning west coast views, black sand and sandhills. hot water needs a bit of looking for at the right tide

Make sure you don't arrive too early as you will have to search for the hot spots by digging. Once found, it is great. Also nice views, walk on the beach, swim.

Incredibly soft black sands, check the tidal times to get there at low tide for the digging to begin. Really quiet even on a Saturday. Need a good rinse off afterwards. Great views and peaceful

This beach is not far from town, then requires a climb up and over a large sand dune to reach the beach. You then need to be there 2 hours either side of high tide to enable you to go out far enough to dig...More

Went to this beautiful place, over a sand dune with a beautiful setting, mountains on each side and beautiful Tasman Sea. Hole were already dug so we just lay down in the warm hole next to the sea. Great day!

No bbq area at the beach. There is a toilet (bad shape), but nothing more. But you will be more or less alone at the beach. So bring your stuff and leave no trace. It will be fine. Don’t forget the shovel and be there 2h... More
