A Real Waterfall :)
Oct 2021
This is my favourite falls in NZ, and what I believe a real waterfall should look like :) It's an easy 10 minute walk down a good track - quite a few stairs in places, but much easier to access than Maclean Falls, to see the beautiful bridal veil falls. A nice 30 minute stop - note, if you are travelling north (ie from Invercargill) you have probably accessed the falls via 5km of gravel road - but you don't need to return that way - just keep travelling in the same direction and you will end up in Owaka - much easier driving. Enjoy.

Beautiful falls

Lovely walk through NZ bush to reach these beautiful waterfalls. Well-maintained track and only a short walk to get to the falls. Well worth a visit!

One of the best
Feb 2021
This was recommended by the host of our accommodation. The gravel road should not put you off. Plenty of parking, good track and the falls are so pretty. (if you don't like them, then why are you in the Catlins?)

Beautiful scenery
Feb 2021 • Solo
What a beautiful place. Another place to make me feel blessed that I live in this beautiful country. A lovely bush walk to see the beautiful falls at the end. Not a long distance to get there and you look at wonder at the scenery on the way....a must visit

Picturesque
Jan 2021
Unashamedly the most pictured waterfall advertising the Catlins attractions. A 20-metre waterfall cascading over three tiers is truly a picturesque sight, making the short track walk all the worthwhile. Providing there are not the expected hordes of others also wishing to visit at the same time as yourself, it is a water feature that allows you to simply admire and absorb through meditation.

Short walk to a beauty
Oct 2020 • Family
30 min return walk to a beautiful waterfall. It was raining but the canopy of natives sheltered us. Easy walk. Some stairs. Easy parking and long drop toilets.

Hard to think of a more beautiful waterfall
Sep 2020
I've seen a fair few waterfalls around NZ, but can't think of any as beautiful as this one. An easy 10 minute walk takes you to a lookout at the top, and then another 3-4 minutes and you're at the bottom with the view. Totally worth it if you are visiting the Catlins.

Three Tiered Cascading Waterfall
Sep 2020
Loved this commandingly beautiful waterfall just a short forest walk from the roadside carpark. The sound of it roaring as you stroll through the beautiful native bush precedes the majesty of it's three tier cascading fall. It was drizzling lightly but this only added to the ethereal experience. There were only two other vehicles in the carpark when we visited. Had the place virtually to ourselves. Magic!
