Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful idyllic setting all but for the booming sounds of gas gun bird scarers of Te Mata Vineyard - Wines nearby. These run from January through April scarring many native birds Tui and Bellbirds which would otherwise frequent the glade. The folks at Te Mata vineyard are mighty pleased producing perhaps the noisiest Wines produced in the Hawkes Bay if not NZ like Coleraine. Enjoy the walk if you can but best months are April through to December.

This walk was straight off a main road in Havelock North. Parking was on the main road. The sign said it was 1.6 Km return so it's not long but still very enjoyable. It's a laid path alongside a stream and under a canopy of trees. Lovely but too short.

Great to walk in nature and hear the Tui's, shady on a hot day and so well looked after. It's a peaceful walk and a delight.

This is where Trip Advisor comes into its own. I have family and friends in Havelock North but only discovered this gem by looking for interesting local activities. What a delightful, sheltered, nature-rich walk. The walk starts at a main road but within moments that is forgotten - the community has planted a plethora of native New Zealand flora and fauna so you get to see it all. The walk then transitions into more open spaces as you ascend and finishes in a lovely, bright grove on the foothills of Te Mata Peak. I would strongly suggest taking a picnic along and it is great for kids to explore also.

I have just walked my dog here again and it is a pleasant walking track located within Havelock North Village so this is quite convenient. I find it a good place for walking my dog on a warm day as the walk is mostly shaded. The last time I walked here I wasn't too surprised there was very little water in the stream as we were in drought. This time, after plenty of rain in recent weeks, I thought the stream would be back but it is still only a trickle at best. Nevermind. Due to poisons being present around the track it isn't a place to let your dog off the lead but is quite safe on lead. The presence of poison is well sign-posted at the start of the track (can't recall what the poison was).

Not hard to find on main road but don't blink or you will miss the sign.
Great little walk for a family (under two kms and mostly flat).
Really nice shaded path through bush, perfect way to get out of the sun for a bit of exercise on a hot day

I walked here yesterday with my dog as I wanted somewhere shady to go with my large black dog who really feels the heat. Unfortunately because of how hot and dry it has been the stream was all but dried up with just a few pockets of stagnant, foul looking water remaining. Some other dog owners I met whilst walking told me their dogs get itchy and come out in rashes after being in this water. I didn’t ask if that’s just at the moment with the water being so sparse and stagnant or if that happens when the stream is full as well. There is also a sign at the start of the track (good that there is a well placed sign alerting walkers to this) notifying the presence of a horticultural poison which is toxic to dogs and not to let them forage etc. So whilst it is a track where you can let your dog off-lead I wouldn’t recommend it. It is an easy and pleasant walk with well formed/ maintained tracks but expect to walk single-file.

Great walk with kids..theh can paddle along in the shallow stream, look for painted rocks, run ahead without fear then maybe enjoy a picnic before returning via a the second track. Both tracks through beautiful trees carefully nurtured by a few dedicated locals, very peacful place to be. Dog owners love the walkway as well.

This walk is a treasure. Thank you to all those volunteers. Native plants are labelled. Provides shade and filtered sunlight by a pretty stream. A wonderful respite time for our dog who was able to go free for a while after touring around in the car.
