With more than 50 twist and turns and covering a distance of over 1800...

With more than 50 twist and turns and covering a distance of over 1800 metres on a continuous downhill trajectory, the Skyline Luge in Calgary is the longest in the world and is certain to bring smiles to the faces of both the young and old this summer. Sounds awesome (and it is)........but what is it exactly?

Invented in New Zealand in 1985, Skyline Luge is a unique wheeled gravity ride that provides the rider full control over their descent on a purpose built track. The unique braking and steering system control speed and direction - it's easy to learn and is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

But most of all - it's fun, great fun! The simple enjoyment of hurtling down the track in the specially constructed Luge kart as you navigate the twists, turns and bumps never fails to make adults giggle like children. And the children will beam with excitement, before hopping back on the chairlift to the top so they can do it all again. Those under 6 years old (or less than 110cm tall) can even share a ride with Mum or Dad, so no-one misses out and the whole family gets to have some safe fun. In fact, over 30 million people have enjoyed the Luge worldwide and their comments have led to the Luge slogan; 'Once is never enough'!

And it's not. Most are hooked after their 1st Luge ride. It's easy to master and soon you'll notice yourself moving to the chairlift a little quicker, not quite running, but certainly walking fast.....all so you can get back to the top and do it again as soon as possible! It's thrilling, it's exciting and it's perfect for a family, a group or a team. In fact, just about anyone can enjoy the Luges. The universal appeal is what has made Luge a success in New Zealand, Singapore and Mt Tremblant already.

Skyline Luge Calgary is owned by New Zealand based Skyline Enterprises. An innovative and leading tourism company, Skyline Enterprises have a portfolio of iconic tourism products within New Zealand and international Luge sites in Singapore and Canada.

We brought our three children with us over the summer to the Skyline Luge. It was really fun and the we enjoyed it so much. For my younger kids (ages 7 and 8), we felt it was better to ride with an adult as it can be quite fast coming downhill.

Travelling from Stampede with plans to get to Banff, this was planned and something we really had to fit in. Previously done in NZ AND Mum said nah, I'll let the kids enjoy but they begged me to do it too. Omg, so glad I did and we couldn't wait to do it in Calgary. The chairlift ride up is... More

Great view of Calgary on the ride up to the top, went in September but still a little chilly on the hands, we went for the three rides option, some of the carts went a little quicker than others, great fun and not as scary as I thought it maybe, they are easy to control and felt very safe. Worth... More

Great view of Calgary on ride up the hill! Easy to steer and able to control speed, so felt quite safe and had lots of fun. If it is a cool day, be sure to wear gloves or mitts and layer up!

We initially went in August with our 4 and 6 y.o. They both were peewee riders and had to ride with us. Some of the carts were a bit shaky and by the time you hit the bottom your hands are a bit uncomfortable. Also, the seats are hard on your bum, a little bit of cushioning would have been... More

We had such a blast, that two weeks later we made the 3 1/2 hour trek back to Calgary to do it again.

This is a cool idea with a rush or adrenaline for all involved. I had no clue what it would be like but at the end of three runs I wanted to do it again. In fact I plan to go back and give it a shot. My kids, and kids of all ages, are able to participate which makes... More

Family of 9 from ages 1 year to 44 years old and all were able to ride and love it. Any child under 110cm had to ride with an adult but otherwise weight and height was no issue! A bit expensive but for the money very well organized and employees were very helpful. Everyone one had smiles at the end... More

Went for three runs, but my inner child could have gone many more times! It's really fun to do. For both young and old. In contrast to many european "luges or rodelbahns" you have a wide track where you can overtake eachother. Can recommend!

This was a great place to visit and do the luge ride. Did the three rides and I enjoyed each one of them. Plenty of turns to make the ride interesting. The ski lift ride to the top was nice and peaceful.

Thank Tim B
