Beautiful Views

We really enjoyed the gondola ride and the walk at the top. The kids are 4, 7 and 10 and they all did the whole walk. The views are stunning.

Easy hike with Big Payoffs - Right in Banff
Oct 2021
This is a quick hike up to the top. You can start higher up but few parking spots in the upper parking lots (maybe like 7 cars) If not then start lower. There is a few switch backs the quick walk to the top. The backside is Mt Rundle and golf course. There are some cliffs where you may see rock climbers. Further up to top gets you a nice unobstructed view of Banff town below and Banff Hotel and Sulfur mountain . Nice place to pack a lunch. there's even 2 red Muscoka chairs up there. Quick walk back down. It's a great little hike if you need to kill a few hrs.

ALL INCLINE hike - not ‘easy’ as advertised. Amazing views & wildlife surrounding you.
Sep 2021 • Friends
NOT AN EASY HIKE as advertised. It is straight incline with no reprieve and the decline on way down is even more difficult. Amazing views. Saw deer and elk (a male with multiple females and babies who were being flushed back up the hill into the bush by Range staff, as male is in rut mode and protecting his ladies). Multiple entrance options: main one had good sized parking lot. For average person in average shape, takes approximately 90 minutes to complete back to starting point.

Nice views, but wouldn’t repeat
Aug 2021 • Family
Nice views of Banff from up high but the trail itself is dusty, steeper incline without much variation. This is clearly one of the more travelled hikes in Banff, but we preferred views from the more difficult version of Grassi Lakes in Canmore.

Short and sweet
Jul 2021
It's a good trail to do on like arrival day...it's not super long nor super difficult (rated moderate) and it is close to downtown Banff...I would not make a point of doing this on anything other than like a partial day in the city.

Well worth the hike
Jul 2021 • Family
A must do if you visit Banff.
Plan for an hour and half up and down the mountain. Amazing views and worth the hike. The two red chairs at the top and the congratulations sign was an additional bonus.
Will visit again!

Super nice hike with a trailhead in Banff
Jun 2021
Love this hike, it's not too challenging but it's a pretty good workout. Also, you can walk to the trailhead directly from your hotel so no issues even if the parking lot is full. The views of the town of Banff and Banff Springs hotel are out of this world. Also, lots of wildlife along the trail, but it's fairly busy trail, so I was not very worried about bears.

Family hike 🥾 Great view at the top
May 2021
This is a good family hike, we did it May 2021 with our kids aged 7 & 13. It took us 45 minutes to the top and that was at a very slow pace with several short stops along the way. We tracked on our phone it being 1.8 km each way, and elevation at the top approx. 5500 ft. There are switchbacks and some rocky area’s to get over and some little roots sticking out of the ground that can trip you but overall I think this hike is moderate level. That is coming from someone pretty out of shape right now.

This is not a trail to bring a stroller on but I did see many people packing babies in carriers. I felt ok with my 7 year old on this hike but near the top there are some very dangerous area’s just off the path that are not fenced off that and are steep at the cliffs edge that you wouldn’t want a kid wandering over to.

The trail on the weekend was extremely busy; it was early afternoon when we went. By the time we we were on our way back down there were not nearly as many people coming up. We enjoyed a nice picnic at the top, there is a large rocky area to sit at the top with a fantastic view of the city below.

This is a great little hike if you want something that doesn’t take up too much of the day but still gets your heart rate up with some some nice views.

Good hike
Oct 2020
We parked in the lot on Julien Way although you could easily walk here from town. The steeper ascent is the first part to Mountain Tunnel road. After that the switchbacks are more gradual but you are still climbing. Views from the top are great! You can pick out the Bow River Hoodoos Trail in the valley. It took us 1.5 hours total.
