We stopped here on our drive of the Lake Minnewanka area. The ponds are a picture of beauty! Great place for a stroll or a picnic. Loved watching the groundhogs pop in and out of their burrows! A must see spot!

Really idylic location for a picnic with plenty of firepits to BBQ your lunch. A nice trail skirts the ponds as well so you can make a full circuit. Can't go wrong coming out here on a summers day!

We have used these picnic facilities before. This time there was a fire ban on, so that limited our use of the facilities. It gets quite crowded on a hot day. There are good washroom facilities and nice paths, one of which links up to the path that goes between Canmore and Banff.

Cascade Ponds are very close to Banff and a wonderful place to stop for a quick picnic or a quick dip on a hot day. There is also lots of parking, even after 12:00 pm.

We visited Cascade Ponds on a weekday and it was calm and very few people there.
The ponds are clear and blue and the spot offers amazing views of the mountains.
A very calm spot to bring a picnic and relax.

I don’t how many times I’ve driven by Cascade Ponds? Not once have I ever stopped to check it out. This time we wanted to end our trip to the mountains with a short family friendly bike ride. We were going to ride from cascade pond to Johnson lake. We couldn’t find the trail head but made the most of our time at Cascade Pond. I want to stop there every time we visit Banff!

the ponds at the base of Cascade Mountain, just off the TransCanada Highway and on the way to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake are stunning at any time but are particularly so when they are full of water like the last time we saw them. Great picnicking area all around, with BBQ pits, big open spaces for the kids to play and little walking trails and bridges for exploring. Lots of birds and deer all around.
We biked there from Canmore on the Legacy Trail and then had lunch on one of the picnic tables there. Wonderful!!

We rode bikes from here to Bankhead. The trail was easy (flat) with gorgeous mountain views. When we got back to Cascade Ponds we had a wiener roast and made s'mores. It was a hot day and so nice to dip our feet in the pond.

Beautiful family area! A hidden gem! I wish I knew of this place when my kids were little. Take a picnic, bathing suits, etc and make a day of it. So close to Banff in case you forgot something. Lovely place to swim and relax!

While the flush toilets were out of order during our visit in June 2020, this is a perfect picnic spot in the mountains. Beautiful lake, right at the start of lake Minnewanka loop. Once covid 19 restrictions are lifted, this place comes with kitchen shelter, flush toilets, picnic tables and a fire pit with each table.
