Not too many people would go into a museum just to learn about the history of skiing, so it's a win-win that they have these informative displays in the Cascade Shops mall. It makes the time in the mall more interesting and the museum gets to tell its story. Banff has quite a storied history relating to skiing, and it was fun to take a dip in the information.

Stop in at the Cascade Plaza to find this free attraction. The exhibits and memorabilia depict the history of skiing in Banff and some of its athletes.
There is a food court, bathrooms and shopping at this venue. it is easy to get to at the heart of Banff.

Yes it’s just some displays inside a shopping mall, but it’s a nice way to spend some time indoors when it’s cold outside. The ski stuff is spread out, inside the mall, including a display hanging from the ceiling. The artifacts like old skis are cool and the displays are informative. Definitely provides a unique theme inside the mall.

If the kids are getting bored of going from store to store on Banff Avenue, this might be the place to take them. #1, it's free. #2, it's got a number of interesting displays. #3 they have samples of very, very old skis. #4 the main art piece in the centre is very inspiring for any would-be downhill skier. You won't get an education to the history of skiing, but it does connect that history to why Banff is such a stunning place to visit.

This is just a display in the mall lol. A couple of mannequins on skis and some brief history on skiing. Not worth going out of your way to see unless your hungry since it's right in the food court.

More than a museum it is a collection of pictures and decent dummies/reproductions of the most important Canadian skiers in the history, nestled inside a mall, so it is a particular location!
All sections are well explained though and if you like the sport of skiing it is well Worth, plus it is for free and inside a mal, with all services and stores.

If you are into skiing, this is a must - it has the history of skies from whenever it started to current - we always stop by when in Banff as it changes regularly - great to show the kids how we use to ski in the 80's!

The first reviewer doesn't make sense at all, nobody is trying to sell you anything. Its in a mall but not in a store which makes it all the much better. You learn a bit about Nancy Green and other famous skiers, some of the first skis and some cool bronze sculptures of skiers. The first reviewer must be talking about a different museum because this nothing at all like that reviewer said.
Best thing ever; NO FEE! Unless you buy stuff.
