We started at the trailhead at Surprise Corner and hiked to the Hoodoos viewpoint. Parking was no problem as we were very early. The trail itself was not difficult. We loved seeing the hoodoos at the end! See photo.

This was a great trail and overlook. We took the trail from our resort and found the views amazing. The river and mountains were gorgeous to see on this hike. The overlook when we got to the Hoodoos was outstanding. I did try to hike down to the Hoodoos but the climb down was very vertical and I did not get far. The overlook area has parking for those who do not want to hike, and it has bathrooms. There were also some benches and chairs in the area. This is not a strenuous hike but wear sneakers/hiking shoes.

We stopped here by chance as we were passing on our way to our hotel. The views across to Banff, Sulphur mountain and teh surrounding peaks was stunning, and we were equally thrilled to watch a herd of Elk crossing the raging river, all of us cheering the youngsters on as they battled the water. A very easy trail and quick stop for photos.

This is a very special walk because of the river, mountains and snow. It is so green. There are three Hoodoos which are a bit difficult to see and they are sand colored. Fun walk but it is a bit of a challenge to get to the top.

We parked at Surprise Corner. There is limited parking and we were lucky to get a spot. We took the Bow River Hoodoos trail to the Hoodoos viewpoint. It’s a lovely trail through the forest and along the river. There is a good uphill ascent at the end as you climb up from the river to the Hoodoos viewpoints on the ridge. Views are really nice. We returned via the Tunnel Loop Hoodoo trail. It parallels Tunnel Mountain Road to the Douglas Fir Resort. There we came out on the road and then took a left on Tunnel Mountain Drive and walked back on that road (it’s closed to traffic). This part was not really worthwhile - I would recommend returning by the Bow River Hoodoos trail. Total trip time was 2.75 hours including the time spent viewing the Hoodoos.

Beautiful scenery! The Bow River in sight the air was fresh and clean I loved it! The trail was great exercise and there were a lot of campers staying there. Great room and open space!

What the heck is a hoodoo is listed on the information sign by this beautiful landmark. hoodoos are very neat and you can even hike to see them upclose. We just took the path and saw the amazing Bow Valley for a short 10min walk. Worth the walk, and snap, snap pictures.

Parking was easy and then a trail leads down to the Hoodoos Viewpoint.
There is a sign if you want to read all about it too.
The Bow River snakes around and through the valley below.
Once seen.
