About
We have a self-catering cottage for holiday rental that is situated in a private garden setting with rural surroundings. The lay-out is open plan with a queen bed, a king single and a single trundle bed. The beds are all made up with good quality linen and there is extra bedding if required. The bathroom has a good pressured shower and there's an outdoor bath set in a private spot near the cottage for those that wish to get amongst it. The cottage is warm and well insulated with a wood fire inside and an outdoor brazier. The kitchen has an electric stove, a microwave and well equipped cupboards of pots and pans etc. The bbq outside is heated by coals. There is access to plenty of farm walking and animals near by. The beaches of Hahei, Cooks and Hot Water beach are 20mins drive away, Coroglen tavern 5 mins away and the towns of Whitianga and Tairua approximately 25 mins away. A great central location for exploring the Coromandel Peninsula.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely setting in a Coromandel valley amongst farms and orchards. Rustic kiwi style ranch with a great selection of horses and expert tuition. The pupils love attending and are taught in a caring and respectful way in dealing with all aspects of horse riding.

I stayed here as a solo traveller in winter and it was so perfect. The gardens are just amazing and there is so much bird life. The place is massive and very warm with an indoor and outdoor fire area. It’s great for families or a group of friends as there is plenty of space. The cottage itself is very private apart from the odd visit from the chickens or cows. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My daughter and I had not ridden for at least 15 years but both of us have wanted to ride together for a while now. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ride together in the Coromandel Peninsula at Rangihau Ranch.
We booked our 1 1/2 hour ride the day before and was accommodated straight away. The horses were gorgeous, well mannered and well cared for.
Amelia took us out on the most beautiful ride with fabulous views. She was really lovely, making sure we were ok and happy to change pace etc.
I would not hesitate to recommend this place - it was simply perfect.

My daughter is horse mad and was so thrilled to do a 1.5 hours trail ride. Tessa was so accommodating in fitting us in before our flight home and my Millie had a wonderful time seeing the Rangihau ranges with her guide Millie. It is a beautiful part of the world and so well organised. We hope to visit again one day!

My husband and I were hesitant about taking our ever persistent animal loving daughter on a horse trek. But being the loving parents we are we put our hesitation aside and took our daughter. Searching the horse treks in our area we found Rangihau Ranch so we booked a one hour horse trek for the 3 of us. Upon arrival at the ranch, we were met by Otis. A big loveable dog with a Huntaway voice. We were then saddled up, given instructions on how to stop, start and turn the trusty steeds and off we went. Through some amazing farmland/ scenery with our guide leading us. All that I can say is it was amazing experience and would thoroughly recommend this experience to everyone. Thanks Tessa for a wonderful ride.

A lovely, winding ride into the steep hills above Coroglen. Some steep sections which beginners may find intimidating, but the wonderful horses know their way well and will keep you safe, as will the terrific guides. Our experienced 10-year-old daughter was given a horse with more spirit (I had a lovely plodder, to suit my ability!), and she even got a bit of a canter and a jump in, which she loved. A place full of horse-love. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful morning riding with Tessa. We were three very inexperienced riders (an adult and two teenagers) but the horses were really calm and very well behaved. The views were amazing and the ride very interesting with Tessa telling us about the farm and the history of the area.

We're sort of experienced riders. It's been a while but we've been on a few pony rides. Unfortunately, "trail rides" sometimes becomes lazy, loping slogs in a conga line of slow horses. This is not one of those trips. Rangihau has big beautiful (and sometimes spirited) horses that are treated well. Heck the get to roam a huge padduck on the hill above the ranch. Our ride was just my wife and I and we couldn't have been happier. We took a nice 1 1/2 ride through the lower fields then into the hills above the ranch. Very little of the ride was dead flat and you needed to pay attention. But that was fine with us. We wanted a ride not a Disney trip. The best part was when we went to the highest ridge. The views were amazing the trail was a nice meandering track between the grass and the bush.
