We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Called in to discuss possible cooperation with our own volunteer group and had a good look around. Peter was an excellent guide and it's obvious that they have a very enthusiastic volunteer group. The presentation of the displays is very good, lots of different items covering a huge range of subjects. A lot of research goes on in the back area and their archives are extremely well organised and looked after. Highly recommend a visit if in the area

For such a small town, this is such a top class museum. The stories of the people in the area are thoughtfully and inclusively portrayed throughout, highly recommend a visit.

A great place to come visit in this quintessential kiwi town!

Come talk to some locals who have lived in the town for a long time and see the many artefacts of local history.

Over the last week we have travelled from Opotiki around the East Cape and down to Hastings. We viewed a museum in Opotiki and then Gisborne and today Wairoa. It is admirable to know that there are groups of dedicated people in our smaller New Zealand towns who have the passion and determination to gather together historic resources and stories, preserving and presenting these so we might all learn something about our past. Wairoa is one of these towns and their museum is something to be extremely proud of. Today I was fascinated to read of the Ngati Kahungunu, te Matenga Tukareaho, te Waru Tamatea and also to see a Pai-Marire flag which had ended up in Scotland but repatriated to the Wairoa Museum in 2015 - incredible story! In addition to these historical artefacts there is a Lindauer painting of Ihaka Whaanga. I was also fascinated to read some of the personal histories of some of the Wairoa people. Thank you for sharing your lives and a piece of history with us.
