Vourlia is the beach with golden sand in Xerokambos. It is ideal for toddlers. The water is shallow, the sand perfect to build castles in the sand. In one part of the beach, you can hire sunbeds. The water is turquois to deep blue. The...More

My review title isn't hyperbole, honest! My fiancee and I were staying in Makry Gialos, and Xerocambos was well worth the 1hr drive to get there. In fact, the drive just adds to the experience, as you wind through small, traditional villages, and over mountains....More

If you can survive the drive through the mountains and small towns, you will be rewarded with this excellent beach. The water is warmer than in other areas of Crete and also very safe for young families. The sea bed slopes very gently from the...More

One of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Remote and therefore not crowded with people and quite isolated and virginal. Beautiful beach with bays, sand and turquoise water. It is recommended for those who already come to the area not to miss.

If you want to get a bit farther you'll be rewarded with this great beach with perfect water. The road there is a bit tiring but really nice rugged scenery makes up for it!

We drove for 3 hours from Chersonisos stopping at several places en route. The scenery in this area is stunning with high mountains, rugged Gorges, and empty sandy beaches where the water is crystal clear. The drive down from the top of the mountains to...More

This isolated beach in the south-east of Crete is really fantastic. The sea water is like a swimming pool, the beach is not crowded even in August. The landscape is typically Mediterranean. Unfortunately the services (tavernas, bars) are far apart and therefore it is advisable...More

The tiny village of xerokambos is isolated in the south east of Crete and has some of the most beautiful beaches of the island. The main beach is blue flagged, with a couple of tavernas nearby, few sun umbrellas and crystal clear water. Walking below...More

Visited over a day after a winding but scenic drive. Fantastic beaches with clear-blue water. The first we came to had a few standard umbrellas and chairs for rent (€5, june 2015) but unless you want them for the shade they are a bit unnecessary,...More
