Invigorating mid-winter walk and work-out on an overcast day. Fine views out to sea and over Otago Harbour. Good exercise and quite steep in places. Not suitable for very young children.
Wear shoes/boots with a good tread.

An excellent walk climbed up from Aromoana, the first part of the walk is very steep, i.e. need to be a mountain goat... Bit tricky going up and down this part, but other than that the scenery is magnificent and interestesting. We took lunch and had it out on the Point (well actually a bit away from the point as the Birds were nesting on the point and were not happy with our presence.

There are two ways to access the track which leads you down to Heyward Point. The way we climbed was up from Aromoana. Just before the first turn off. Pull over on the grass verge. Even if you just climb to the top of the hill, it gives you amazing views of the harbour. Shame it is not a circular, but is a well formed path, but on wet days wear shoes with sold grip.
