Batey is a new mojito bar in Tulum. We serve the best mojitos made with freshly crushed sugar cane juice out of a converted VW Beetle! There's live music most days of the week, a great atmosphere and the best service.

Be very careful here, you may do not get any money back. Good music, but very doggie cashier . Well over her skills, rude and unfortunately can make a very bad experience of a nice day.

My partner and I went to Bateys for a drink and live music last week. Drinks were delicious, vibe was great. HOWEVER, after one drink each we were both absolutely trashed, stumbling, out of our heads....made it back to our hotel (thankfully) collapsed, and couldn't move a muscle.
Our drinks were without a doubt, dusted with narcotics, likely muscle relaxers. As someone who takes benzos for anxiety and has had a drink or two with them I know this feeling without a doubt. For those of you who have seen bridesmaids, think of the scene with her on the plan. Mind you, my partner is 6'4 and 200 pounds and this is what ONE mixed drink did to him.
This is a known occurrence in this area of mexico, with many bars and resorts using cheap or watered down alcohol because it is more expensive and then spiking the drinks to try to trick people. It is so utterly dangerous and the outcome could have been terrible, we are lucky. Not to mention, for someone who is on other medications-- there could be unknown drug interactions resulting in devastating outcomes. PLEASE be careful.

Live music is great! Fun if you’re drinking, but my girlfriend who just wanted a Coke Zero had no other option but to order water which cost 50 pesos... More than my beer!

I was charged 8000 pesos instead of 800 here back in March (around 400 USD instead of 40). I don't know if it was by mistake or if it was intentional - but Batey has not responded to my Facebook messages, phone calls, or my bank's phone calls. I'm not one to write bad reviews but figured I had to warn others...

We stop here for drinks every time we are in Tulum! Such a fun and quirky atmosphere and they had a live guitar player this last time as well! Watch them hand crank sugar cane for your mojitos!

Just want to mention the place, music and the staff all good!... not so sure about "the best mojitos in town" tho, the fresh sugar cane juice and cane sticks as garnish makes the difference BUT on the night we were there our mojitos were watery and the ingredients were out of balance, I know that the mojitos are made with crushed ice but just saying, the bartender has to make all drinks with the proper measurements and the taste could it been better.

If you a fortunate enough to make it to Tulum, this is a must stop. They tend to have live music at 6:00 and 9:00 nightly a d the drinks are the best around...by far. Keep in mind its cash only, but the drinks are only 100 pesos. Come, drink and enjoy!

We love this place also and have visited during the day since we are in Puerto Aventuras each year. When does the music start and do they post who is playing? We want to go there in the evening but need timing. Thanks

The music starts around 9pm I think but they also have some live music (more chilled) for dinner. Check out their fb page I think they have info as to who is playing on it
