About
Punta Venado Bike Park, is the first specific park for mountain Biking (XC) at the Yucatan Peninsula. We are located 10km form Playa del Carmen, 60km from Tulum or 60km from Cancun. With more than 25km of single track trails at three different technical levels: Green: The less difficult; Blue: the more difficult and Black the most difficult trails, we are in the heart of the Riviera Maya. We are located aside of Blue Venado Beach Club, in the land known as Punta Venado, that's why you'll find a beach club for your family meanwhile you're riding. We have Bike rentals.

I'm so excited to have found this mtn bike park (with rentals!) just south of Playa del Carmen. They put tons of effort into making the trails. The Green are smooth, fast, and flowy (with lots of berms), up to the Black which have plank bridges, steep drops, and jumps. The Black can be tiring due to lots of uneven terrain, but dropping back to the Blue or Green to build up stamina again. Emerging onto their private desolate beach to dip in the water and cool off, or even floating the freshwater cenote, is fantastic. Part of the park borders Punta Venado Beach Club, which is great if you want to stop off for a beverage, or visit afterward. All in all a super great time. Joel was really friendly and helpful!

This was my second time here and it was just as good as my first time, I ride regularly at home and it’s great to have a place to vacation that I can get a good ride in. Some of the trails started seeming familiar to me which made it even better this time. They have a nice variety of easy Flowey trails and some harder more technical rocky and root covered trails, and there nicely marked and they have Maps you can bring with you so you always know where you’re at. It’s nice to ride through the jungle all the way to the beach, and there’s never anybody at the beach, it’s like your own private beach, and it’s nice to cool off there and grab a snack. The bikes are nice, Trek Roscoe they are Hardtails so it can be a little bumpy but it’s still great to be able to get in a nice ride.
Joel is very accommodating, he even had my taxi called to come pick me up before I came from my final ride of the day so I didn’t have to wait so long for the taxi to show up. I’m sure on our next trip down here I will ride a third time:-)

I took my daughter and we both have a ton of mountain biking experience. We rented full suspension bikes which we’re not what we’re used to but it’s Mexico so whatever. Although it was $90 each for rental. We started on the green which was a nice flow trail. We moved to a blue which was a little more technical. After 20 min my derailer somehow ended up in my spokes as I was riding and I wasn’t able to fix it myself so I called the shop, told them what happened and they sent someone to get the bikes. we walked back 30 minutes to the start. I was going to ask for some of my money back because the bikes were old and just fell apart but i decided to just get in my car and go. As I was leaving the guy said you can’t leave as you have to wait for the bikes to inspect and pay for the damage! I was shocked as he should have offered to give me a refund, instead of try and get me to wait around 30 min and then charge me to fix it! I left him my number and agreed to pay for damage if I broke it, if he agreed to refund the money if it was his broken bike. Of course I never heard from him about the refund for the broken bike. Beware of the rentals, maybe you can do a tour instead , and the tour company will provide bikes. The trail was good so that’s why I’m still giving it 3/5 rating.

I think our experience was different from the norm due to covid-19. We read that people are usually greeted at the entrance but we couldn't find anyone at the gate and thought they were closed. Finally found someone and he was pretty low in spirits due to the lack of visitors I guess. We rented two hard tails and rode the beginner level trails which were challenging enough for us...we returned the bikes and hiked the other sections and went swimming at the beach. We were literally the only two people in the whole park. Wish I brought bug spray and I hope this park sees better turn out and stays open.

Trails are well maintained and has a trails for beginners and features for experienced riders. We arrived early to beat the crowds and heat. We were the only ones on the trails so at least we beat the heat. We rented the the hard tails but maybe could have gone with the full suspension as it was technical with roots and rocks. Bikes were in decent shape. Brakes were good. Pedals didn’t have great grip. We were out for about 2 to 2.5 hours. Would definitely go back if we are in the area.
We were staying in Tulum and had a car rental so it was easy to get to. If you are cabbing you would need to arrange your pickup as it’s a ways of the main road. There’s a beautiful beach if you continue down the road. We did the beach club. Service was good and sun beds were comfortable.

I missed this on our last visit so I made sure to get there this time. It was a hot humid day (most of them are) I got a taxi from Playa Del Carmen for 25 dollars American To the bike park, and the driver said he would pick me back up when I’m ready :-) I met Joel who was working there and got set up with the Trek Roscoe bike, size extra large 27.5 plus size tires hard tail. The bike was in excellent condition everything was adjusted just right, it shifted great and the brakes work great. I went over the map of the area with Joel to kind of get a feel of the layout, and then took off on my own, the trails are very well-maintained and marked very well, they’re wide enough on the easier trails and a little bit narrower and with a little bit more punchy climbs and obstacles on the harder trails, but you do need to realize that this area is actually very flat and they did a great job at finding some small changes in the terrain that provide a little up-and-down riding. On my first loop I did some of the harder trails which are a little slower going, I could feel I was overheating even with a camel pack and drinking a lot of fluids, the slower pace on the harder trails just didn’t offer enough Breeze to keep me cool, I headed back to the beginning and bought another Gatorade, took a few minutes to cool off before heading out for my second loop. I felt much better on the second loop, and was able to keep a good pace and enjoy riding in the terrain there, it was a lot of fun :-) I took the trail to the beach and rolled along the beach trail, which was really cool, then took one of the easier trails back, The trail is very flowing and it was a lot of fun blazing through the jungle, Grasshoppers jumping, iguanas running, birds, cenote’s, lagoons, it’s really quite a nice location and very well laid out, ended up with 8.5 miles and a lot of smiles, I will for sure be doing this again next time we visit.

What a pleasant surprise. I have been an avid mountain biker for some time and didn't have any expectations as I knew the area was flat but Alberto and his crew have been working on this park for over 7 years and they have created a wonderful 18 mile circuit for different skill levels. Dont worry if you don't have a bike they provide everything you need to have an awesome time in a jungle sunken park with highlights of the beautiful caribbean ocean. Just go early so that the heat and humidity dont consume you, guaranteed fun!

The 13 year old and 30 something said the trails and features were awesome. There were berms and jumps etc. The trail marking was good, with difficulty levels clearly marked, and the bikes were good. The two hikers who went along enjoyed walking the trail to the beach and the beautiful setting and the bar for cold Cokes. Go early in the morning. The bikers did all the trails (they are experienced mountain bikers) in 2.5 hours. They walked some areas to judge the trail before riding.

This was the best part of my Mexico trip! There are trails for every skill level, the staff is super friendly and the bikes are in great condition. If you plan to ride on the weekend be sure to arrive early to get a bike.
