The museum seems to have arisen because someone realized that there were plenty of unclaimed dead bodies to be unearthed and exploited. The museum is barely a 'museum' at all and is mostly just a bunch of dead bodies behind glass. The tour adds very...More

Un lugar bastante peculiar, el ver las momias de tan cerca es impresionante. Sí es posible, paguen un guía para que les de detalles de las momias (su vida, procedencia, etcétera). La entrada no es tan cara y vale la pena. A very peculiar place...More

This museum is just plain weird; however, it is very interesting. It's chock full of mummies-all types, sizes, and states of dress. The museum is full of descriptive signs and illustrations. The owners have done a good job in making a morbid topic fascinating and...More

Though we can learn about the technical aspects of how mummification happened , this expo is against the dignity of those bodies on display. Not impressed at all.

We took a taxi to the museo de las momias and enjoyed our visit. They have many mummies, some of them very impressive, what make the place a unique and interesting place. We walk back to central Guanajuato since it is a short distance downhill.

It was very interesting to go through the Museum and see what my Family seen as children playing amongst the mummies in the 1940's. I would definitely recommend to see this if you are in Guanajuato.

More than an unusual exhibition , what makes it more interesting is to hear the cause of death. Más que una exhibición inusual , lo que la hace más interesante es escuchar la razón probable de muerte.

I mean really , how many margaritas , mariachis and churches can you take? This diversion is short and shockingly different. A collection of unintended mummies, dug up due to their lack of family interest in their internment, and to make room for other bodies....More

due to the dry weather and minerals in the dirt, somehow, without any preparation, these mummies are intact and exceptional to view.

This was one of those excrusions that you have to do, even though it is disturbing. IT was very crowded while we were there due to Semana Santa. I would highly recommend going in the morning-it opens at 9am. otherwise it may become too crowded....More
