Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We own two boats in PV, and sail at least once a week. The weather in "the season" Nov.-June is perfect.

Banderas bay is one of the biggest bays on the Pacific Coast ( both North and South America) It is teaming with sea life. It is also a whale breeding ground and a sanctuary for them. There are many tour operators offering cruises on the bay. There is a pirate boat that has a 4 hour cruise complete with a great dinner menu plus free all you can drink booze and a very entertaining show. The Malacon (seaside boardwalk) has hundreds of shops and a lot of restaurants. There are over 600 restaurants in the town, from street vendors to a top of the line restaurant up on a hillside street. The bay and surrounding town has it all!. If you can't find it here, it probably doesn't exist!

With such amazing views and scenery on the water, we never get tired of being there. From small fishing boats to huge cruise ships coming into port and the nightly pirate ship that sails out, there is always something different to see. There are many hotels and resorts all along the Bahia de Banderas in Puerto Vallarta and up to Nayarit. You can see whales and dolphins, sea turtles and various sea birds. The sandy beaches are nice for long walks, picnics, or watching sunsets. Each evening, fireworks light up the sky somewhere along the bay making it feel magical.

A great place to visit with a wealth of experiences on the Bay.
From restaurants, watersports, entertainment, restaurants, tours and great beaches ( except for a few rocky spots) there is always something to do while enjoying the spectactular views. When we were there in January, the whales were performing offshore and breaching throughout the day.

I could just sit on the beach and stare at the Bay all day. Hoping to see a whale or dolphin jump. You just never know what you might see!

The only concern I had is the fact that there are a few fresh water rivers that run into the bay, and crocodile and alligators tend to swim into bay during the hot summer season. We actually had a Kayak tour cancelled for safety reasons as a large alligator was spotted nearby our beach.

We did 2 boat rides (for Rythems of the Night and Los Veranos Zip line Tour) and did a snorkel. Our Resort was on the bay too. Bay of Banderas is my kind of place. Beautiful.

The waves are nice and there is marked places to swim. No lifeguards on duty though. The sun gets hot by 10 am so the water is your friend.

Is it safe to swim - is there raw sewage in the bay
maureen s
Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico
Last year I observed raw sewage in the river that flows into the ocean at Punta de Mita. I guess the little towns up river don't have treatment facilities.
We now just use the pool at our condo!
l visited puerto vallata twice and stayed in hotel vista cannot find this hotel now. has this hotel got a nrw name please. thankyou

Is the sea very rough in February and March
dennis l
southern VA, USA71 contributions
The sea is rough in January. February is pretty calm mostly. ....but we can have some wild days. March is normally very calm and it remains that way through the summer. However jellyfish arrive about April orMay. So between February and March. ...March is the best bet for a calm sea.

Is February/March a good time to go here? Possibly staying at the Mayan for the weekend and my sole reason for dong so is to see the whales :) It's a timeshare on the Bay.
Thank you!!!

Hi - I would like to know the price of booking a hall for 60 people for a lunch buffet(vegetarian cum non-vegetarian items, including appetizers and desserts) gettogether on 14th(Sat) or 15th(Sat) of feb. 2015 - and the price of booking 3 standard rooms for 1 night.
And, do you provide complementary breakfast for the residents? If so, what type of food would that be? Kerala or Continental or a mix of different types of cuisines?
Thanks a lot,

Hi,
We have been going to Puerto Vallarta for 6 years now. We have always stayed south of town where it is quieter and more peaceful. There are many restaurants downtown and many hotels. You would have to contact one of them for this information. I do know that the restaurant El Set has a huge venue and a wonderful view of the bay, but again it is south of town. We have eaten there many times and the food is very good. Again, you would have to contact them to see if they could help you. I am sorry I can't help you any better. Good Luck!

Is there only mule to ride. How about horses?
Kaviana
Vancouver, Canada970 contributions
You will find people walking with horses on the beach. You can make a deal over there but they only go on the beach. If you want horseback riding ask somewhere else. On Tripadvisor you look up what to do.
