- Explore643775367371 contributionBeautiful fish, underwhelming experience. The fish portion of the aquarium was very cool. The tanks are large and filled with a large variety of different animals. The people at the front did not speak English so couldn't answer any questions we had. We didn't get to see the penguins because we were told once we got inside that it wasn't included in our ticket. The flamingos were not open to the public, which we also didn't know until we were inside. We only got to see a diving show which was kind of cool but there wasn't a schedule so had an employee not stopped us we would not have known any shows were happening. The employees inside the aquarium could speak English well enough to answer and understand so I'm not sure why they wouldn't have people working the front desk that could speak a little English. To feed the stingrays is $80 pesos. There is a spot you get to have your picture taken and they said complimentary but when you leave is very expensive to buy your picture. I think she said $380 pesos for 2 printed pictures. $380 pesos is an okay price but because we didn't get to see any shows (the times should be listed somewhere) and 2 exhibits were not open for us to see it seems very expensive.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 November 2023
- Tommy MRoseville, California2,888 contributionsThis is a good show!I have been spoiled as far as aquariums go because my best friend was a docent at the world’s greatest aquarium in Monterey, California. I got private tours there. As for the Mazatlan aquarium, I made the visit and found some interesting exhibits. As a 91-year-old getting around with a walker, it was a challenge. On a crowded day there, I was overwhelmed much of the time. However, this aquarium has many pluses. I give it two thumbs up, and five stars. It is a fine attraction in Mazatlan. The price is right… if they only offered wheelchair service for seniors like me. I think it's wonderful that they focus on education here.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 November 2023
- threeamigas2019New Westminster, Canada33 contributionsConcrete jungleWe visited the recently-renovated aquarium, and frankly we liked the old one better! Certainly it is a unique piece of architecture, but curators have chosen to go ‘narrow and deep’, rather than ‘wide and shallow’: fewer exhibits but bigger. We enjoyed the diving exhibit, coral tanks, rays, turtles, and parrots. When tickets are already quite expensive, we were disappointed to be told that we’d have to pay extra for the sea lion show. The bird show wasn’t good: too much talking and not enough ‘flying’; we left. If you have nothing else to do on a cloudy day, by all means, visit the aquarium. Alternatively, stay home and read a good book!!Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 24 January 2024
- Daniel BSeaTac, Washington186 contributionsAmazingly aquatic spectacle! One of the best aquariums hands down, the building is something out of a futuristic scene. Just the beauty of it is worth the trip not to mention the beautifully displayed aquatic features. Definitely worth the money and the trip to enjoy itVisited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 May 2024
- Kimberly BGrove City, Ohio7,475 contributionsHigh priced but nice for a few hours and very pretty areaWe love visiting aquariums and this gave us something to do when we were in port on a cruise ship. The price to get in was a little expensive considering the size of the place and available things to see compared to other places we have been in the US. But it gave us something to do for the day and we enjoyed ourselves. The shows were included with the price...just know that everything is done in Spanish. So if you don't know Spanish, you won't have a clue what they are saying during the shows. We watched the bird show and it was ok. However, the macaw show outside was amazing to watch them release them and they flew all over (far away) and circled several times and came back on cue. We also watched the sea lion show which was cute and entertaining. Our favorite area was the aquarium itself with multiple floors of sea life to see. The tanks were quite impressive. They also have a flamingo exhibit, penguins and multiple birds to see. They have a petting tank inside and you can touch the stingrays and starfish and don't forget to walk inside the bird aviary to get a close up of the parrots and macaws while they are flying above your head. The grounds were pretty and a nice place to walk. You can get drinks there at the aquarium area. Great place to spend several hours at while in Mazatlan.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 May 2024

Complete waste of time and money!
Half the tanks were empty, others were uninteresting. They had outdoor cages with a few birds and charged and additional fee to enter plus a very old crocodile sunning itself. I talked myself into staying about 40 minutes.
They had several booths with timeshare vendors, an uninteresting gift shop, and of course the usual snack vendors.
In all of my years visiting aquariums ( a favorite thing to do while travelling), this was the first time I wanted to demand a refund. This venue should not be open - it is a complete disappointment!

The building is beautiful, the exhibits are few and far between, it's kind of surprising that this is in the top 10 largest aquariums in the world. Many of the things are extra. The flamingo area was closed to the public. We have see the penguins or sea lions without paying extra. We couldn't touch the sting rays because I put up a barrier so only those who paid for food could touch them. I think i prefer the aquarium at my local zoo better.

Total waste of time and money!!! Supposed to open at 10 am per the website, so we arrived prior to 10, waited in line only to find out there was a private event going on at 10 and wouldn't open to the public until noon. That was frustrating in itself. Then we return for a noon entry to find out that the exhibits weren't even open and you had to go to a bird show first, then a seal show at 1, then the main aquarium didn't open until 2 pm! We wanted to visit the exhibits on our own and did NOT want to watch shows, especially a bird show and follow a group around from show to show...that is not why we were there. We were NOT happy and walked right out!

Being in Mazatlán you cannot miss visiting the Great Aquarium, if you come by rental car or your own I share that there is no parking so you have to look around where to leave it. Also to avoid queuing to buy tickets it is better to do it online, so you arrive and go directly, do not bring food or alcoholic beverages because they will not give you access, before entering they will invite you to buy the sea lion and sea lion show if you wish. penguins in which it is worth paying an additional difference since this is not included in your entry pass. The experience inside the aquarium is great since you interact, for example, with manta rays, and some snails, as well as some species of birds that are inside the aquarium.

The cost really for what it is doesn't seem like $380 per person seems high to me. They do not have a limit of people since being December it was saturated and the tour was not enjoyable. The sea lion show costs an additional $160 and includes seeing penguins. Overall it is an attraction that you can skip.

Went to the Aquarium as I heard it was the only place in the world you could hold a penguin...but when we got there it was an extra $350 each to hold the penguin, and I did not bring that much money. So that was super disappointing as that is the reason we went. We went around 1 and had to wait until 3 for the shows so we didn't get to see any. But the aquarium itself was very cool an there are lots of great snacks outdoors!

WAYYYY over priced!!! We had a group of 15 go and it cost $450 US! When we got in we found out the sea lion and penguin shows cost extra money. The aquarium was nice, the kids loved feeding the stingrays. The food was ok. Just be prepared to pay a lot for a small amount of exhibits.

We went on a Saturday morning (super busy). The aquarium is pretty neat, but it was super busy and very hot. They don't have AC, but the fish, birds, penguins, are pretty cool. I would recommend going during the week maybe (less busy) and early so it isn't too hot.

I bought my ticket in advance online. The website neglected to say that none of the shows are included in admission! The aquarium itself is surprisingly meager, for a state of the art new facility supposedly under the management of the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. Exhibits are strictly by habitat, with only a few exceptions. All signage is strictly in Spanish, with no options for other languages in a tourist city. No species specific information.

Our group of 6 which consisted of 2 seniors, 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 13) visited the aquarium and really enjoyed it. They have several areas to visit. We saw 2 of the shows which unfortunately were all in Spanish but we still were able to follow. It was a great way to spend 3 hours.

I would assume that it is closed, but am not in Mexico. I do know from reading messages that all public activities are limited or closed.
