Ripped off?
Mar 2020
I arrived at the casino from walking around the harbor from our ship tender. I walked in and exchanged $200 USD for 3500 pesos. Then realizing the machines no longer take cash (from previous visits), I applied for a card to load the 3500 pesos onto. Put in a machine and played for about an hour. Hit a small jackpot and cashed out at 12,000 pesos. The machine printed a ticket showing 10,000+ pesos. They had a hard time getting enough pesos to pay me. I asked about the 12,000 cashout and the ticket showing 10,000 and she simply said, "Taxes." Do I have to pay taxes in Mexico for a casino win when I don't even live there? After being paid out, I went to the bank next door and cashed in pesos to USD...........$426. Really? What a rip.

Don’t waste your time. Small little dump in a small little dump of a mall in a dirty town. Stay at your resort.

Brief Distraction
Aug 2018 • Couples
The weather turned bad while we were in Cabo. Needed a little distraction so headed to the casino. Only found a couple of machines I liked to play. Did win a couple of jackpots and walked out with five times what I started with. I did have some trouble cashing out my card. Gave me my money I had won but no receipt and they wanted to keep my card...? I was suspect of this and insisted on a receipt and my card which I finally got after a long delay.

Two minutes to post time I asked for a program for 'Gulfstream' racetrack. At one minute to post time I placed a trifecta bet. My horses came in. Sweet, right? When I went to cash the ticket and she said it was too early. Then 5 mins later said it's not a winner. I said of course it is, check again. That's when she pointed out that it said 'Aquaduct' at the top. Oh, I was trying to cash a ticket for a race that hadn't been run yet? The cashier knew she had screwed up and just blew me off. Common sense, non existent. Maybe my bad for not checking the ticket but what the hell. Aqueduct wasn't even on the screens.

A nice distraction
Oct 2017 • Couples
During our recent stay in Cabo we stumbled across a casino downtown and stopped in on a Friday night. Crazy smoky place with lots of locals playing slots and a few tables. A little too crowded for my taste so we left. Speaking with someone at the Marina he mentioned that there was a casino located on the second floor of the Puerto Paraiso Mall (really nice Mall by the way lots of great shops and not bad prices especially on apparel). So we went for a visit on Saturday night as a bit of a distraction from fishing, beaching etc... This was a clean establishment with no where near the smoke issues I found at the one down town. We played some Black Jack and found the dealers to be a little shy but friendly. Their English was not the best and with my limited Spanish we got by. Minimum wagers were 100 Pesos or roughly $5 US so that was reasonable. The dealers were efficient and kept the games moving at a nice pace. I found it odd that you had to buy your own drinks but when in Rome... There is also a Sports Book in the casino, I did not partake but saw many guests betting on the baseball playoff games. I also saw food being served but did not eat there. All in all it was a fun experience, won a few bucks over a couple of hours and we enjoyed playing there. If you are staying by the Mall and get the itch to wager a bit I would recommend Casino Caliente as a fun place to go.

Cheating
May 2017 • Couples
We came playing on slot machines. We won the bonus, about 1800 pesos. The staff came over and messed up the machine. Declared the machine was broken after she worked on it. The casino refused to give the bonus and kept our original 2000 pesos on the card. After a quick question, we were kicked out of the casino. That's the Cabo way.

Any idea where we can report this kind of behavior in Mexico, if it matters here? In the state, we file complaint with casino commission for systemic cheating.

We Enjoyed Our Time Here

We came by after dinner at Ruths' Chris Steakhouse.
Casino was clean and modern. There was some smoke though, as in any casino...in Mexico or else ware. Games were fun. You could buy drinks.

An enjoyable hour or two. Good.
