A very pleasant hour spent on the river. The one hour trip on the river Alde takes you around the smaller islands of the ness. The commentary covers the Military history of Orford Ness and it’s strange buildings Regardless is great for bird watchers, calling...More

Really worth a tenner of any bodies money. The skipper and guide was most entertaining in a very relaxed manner. I shall go again as it is just such a relaxing way to spend an hour.

Orford is a lovely place and a boat trip is a good introduction to the area. We’ve had a couple of holidays in Orford so know it well. The trip goes around Havergate island and there’s good views of the Ness and Butley Creek. It’s...More

Good value for a couple of hours on the river. The boat is in good order, and safety was high on the crew’s agenda so great for smaller children and the less mobile. There is plenty to see on the outward and inward legs but...More

This boat seats 29 people on wooden bench type seating around the boat. You can't book, so you just arrive and wait in line, hoping to board. It's not cheap, £10 adult and £5 child. Depending on where you sit, you don't see a great...More

We’d hired the boat as a private tour for several families (capacity is 29) and so we got more time and spent lots of time exploring the lobster pots and handling the crabs and lobsters. Entertained the kids who were largely 10-14 years old. It’s...More

The small boat took us down river and around Havergate island. The boatman gave an entertaining and interesting commentary he also provided bird books for the less informed passengers. His commentary was on local and natural history, wildlife flora and fauna together with tales of...More

Good views of Havergate Island and interesting historical documentary from the Captain. Good value for money at a tenner per person. Nice change to see Orford from the river.

A great hour on the water. The friendly, helpful skipper explains the unexpected secret history of the area and points out the amazing wildlife. And all for a very reasonable price.

Exactly. I posted this as Orford but it came up in one place as Oxford. This is slack practice on the part of Tripadvisor and not worthy of its otherwise high standards. Does no one check?
