I was en route to West Papua. You MUST connect through CGK (Jakarta). Since my connection time was relatively short for going through customs, etc., I elected to get in ty.24h early and stay at CGK. I stayed at the airport hotel. It is nothing to look at but the rooms are clean and the air conditioning and TV worked. Amenities OUTSIDE the secure area are a bit limited but there are a reasonable number of restaurants, mostly oriental but also coffee and KFC. I decided to not leave the airport as getting to the city by bus or cab would have taken several hours given the traffic. There is no rail to the city. Inside security is a somewhat better selection of restaurants and shops in addition to several airline/ private lounges. This was adequate but doesn’t compare to bigger US or international airports such as Singapore, Johannesburg or Atlanta. I would not mind connecting here again, if I had to. Besides the hotel I stayed in, there is also a ‘digital’ capsule hotel. I know a woman who stayed there and she said positive things. Then again, you are in a capsule compared to the hotel room at the Jakarta Airport Hotel.

I was putting up at the Swissbel Hotel and this place was connected. There are few visitors when I was there. Quite a few food outlets but just not many people.
