Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So the landowner acts like a pathetic dictator and instead of dealing with the few idiots who ruin the area they decide to deny everybody access by committing an even more destructive act of blocking the tunnel. What an absolute tw*t , then again they are farmers what more could you expect.

I came across this stunning place by accident with my parents in the 1970s! Not a soul in sight! It was one of Britain's hidden gems until a few yrs ago it was revealed on a tv programme! It should have been kept secret and then it would still be open for others to discover by accident like we did all those years ago!! I have been there twice since and was planning to go nxt month, so disappointed.

Bit gutted I traveled from Liverpool only to see the access to the lake has been blocked. Instead of denying access they should of charged a £5 entry and got a cleaner. I do highly agree people should not litter. I’m just saying this would of been a better alternative rather than deny access to everyone because of a few idiots

The forced closure of the site is disappointing but understandable. The treatment of the site by visitors is frankly disgusting and they have now ruined this for everyone who took their rubbish home with them. Hopefully a locked gate in the future? I'd pay for access.

Walked up to to see the Blue Lake, final tunnel to get to lake has now been blocked with no other access it’s now a lost gem! This is why such places should be in the hands of the National Trust etc not private land owners.

I understand if tourists or even locals spoil a place it’s hard to keep it tidy and why should a land owner run round tidying up after scruffy people.

I think people who slag off trip advisor for spoiling something are short sighted as local beauty spots and tourist attractions are what bring the paying public to a town and keep locals in employment so be careful what you wish for!!!!!

Unfortunately due to the amount of litter and more serious dumping of rubbish (such as mattresses) this beautiful site has been closed by its owners to the general public. It was a local secret treasure but due to much publicity it received the wrong sort of attention.

We were coming to camp Saturday and bringing some friends to visit the Blue Lake.
I was telling them about how magical it is when you go through the cave to the lake.
For me there is nothing that matches the beauty and feeling i used to experience. I am VERY Saddened to hear tonight that it has had to be blocked off due to dis respectful people that didnt use it for the beauty it is. I found it a tranqual place to visit!!!!

I bought my 2 grandsons to visit last year and i must admit it wasnt what i exoected to see. There were 100's of people there and the beauty had gone. I didnt find it a problem people eating there which they were doing but why oh why didnt they just clean up after themselves so that we could still visit this beautiful place.
I am sorry for the locals too that this has been taken away from them.

Do you think that at any point this will ever be opened up again with rules set down?
I truly hope so. It holds alot of memories for me and always tell people about it.

Thank you to the land owner for giving us ( the respectful people) the opportunity to
share this beauty and i understand why you have had to do it.
Thank you once again

Went up to find the local Farmer had closed all the access to the Lake. After we found out that he or she had done this because he got fed up with Tourists leaving their litter about all the time. Which you can't blame him for that, its just a shame these dirty people have ruined it for the genuine people who look after the countryside.

Been visiting this beautiful spot for years and was about to return when I discovered that access has been blocked. This is another example of the internet destroying things that are precious. Nothing is secret anymore. Seen this and other hidden gems being overrun by people wanting to "do it" or cross it off a stupid bucket list. So angry!!!!!!!

Walked up here after seeing some amazing photos of the place. Short walk from the main road but very steep. When at the top looking down into the lagoon is very steep. No way would you want to bring children up here. You can’t get to the actual lake at the bottom anymore as the selfish landowner has blocked access. Pathetic really. Still a nice walk to the top though with great views over Barmouth too
