About
This pristine tropical bay and its beach are protected from rough Atlantic waters by a small piece of land that extends out into the ocean. Charming bungalows on the breathtaking Salt Whistle Bay, Mayreau, which National Geographic called "Paradise Found" and Conde Nast Traveler listed as a "Top International Beach." Spectacular, unspoiled views of the turquoise reefs, amazing snorkeling and stand-up paddle boarding (equipment included), and a world-class kitesurfing beach, all on site. The pristine Tobago Cays are a short 15 min boat trip. Enjoy the on-site restaurant and beach bar with a tasty, international menu.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for one night, and took advantage of the offer by one of the locals to BBQ meats and bring it back to your boat -- we sent raw shrimp and chicken.

The cost to cook about 3 lbs of shrimp with butter and garlic and 7 chicken breasts was $70 USD.

The mooring ball cost was 25USD and we tipped the mooring ball helper an additional 5USD. Always get a receipt.

Sometimes we like to think of Salt Whistle Bay as our own secret place but it has become more and more popular over the years, it is a magnificent, peaceful, clean and a great place to sit back and enjoy snorkeling , swimming, sunsets and sunrises complimented by the perfect beach bars and local food.
It is here where the windward and leeward sides of the island are separated by a sliver of sand and coconut trees. Truly one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean with some of the warmest and delightful people you will ever meet.

The cove itself is super cute. A few businesses are struggling to make comebacks after the double whammy of COVID and a massive hurricane. People are gracious and prices are good. Problem is the cove is really just a major catamaran parking lot now, degrading the appeal for beachgoers.

Don’t bother with Salt Whistle Bay anymore. We have been here before, but our stay yesterday (25th September) was the most awful experience. We know that holding for anchors here is poor, so we paid boat boy “Alex” (in a blue boat) 60 EC for the mooring. We then had the Park Rangers turn up today to ask to be paid for the mooring. Clearly the boat boys here can’t be trusted. Alex lied to us. The Park Rangers are trying to find Alex. But that isn’t the real problem. There was the most horrible reggae music – not the nice sort - blasting out all day and all evening from one of the beach shacks. Very VERY loud. Perhaps they think that, somehow, their music will attract people from yachts. It doesn’t. No one from the yachts ventured ashore against that cacophony of sound. Forget Salt Whistle – we aren’t coming back. Why bother? There is nothing of any attraction here.

This is a smaller bay with lots of protection from any swell. There are moorings but come early because they fill up fast. Even space to anchor quickly fills. The scenery is beautiful with palm trees, mountains, and beaches. There are also some rustic but friendly bars, restaurants, and shops that give it a quaint feel. Be sure to check out the ones on the second row off the beach as they have a little more to them. Our favorite was Nadie's that's very well kept and is the only one we found with WiFi. There's also a little resort in the bay with a great bar and restaurant.

Lovely beach cove. While away a couple of hours, take a swim in the calm sea.
If you walk to the end of the cove there is a narrow strip of land that separates the caribbean from the atlantic great contrast. Onle a little stroll so good to see.

No need to search any further....we found paradise at Salt Whistle Bay! The water is clear and perfect, the beach is sparkling white, the accomodations are clean and comfortable, the food delicious and the staff is delightful! When we arrived we were immediately told that we should relax and not worry about anything! They were right....it was a care-free, relaxing vacation like no other! We will return again next year...can't wait!

We anchored in Salt Whistle Bay.. Try to get there fairly early to make sure you have a place to drop a hook, as with all anchorings in the Grenadines.. the boatboys are very helpful. The beach & water are fabulous. The selection of shirts and goods there is excelent, both the locals' and at the hotel gift shop. At the dingy dock, there is a road to walk up & over to the south side of the island and Saline Bay. Make sure to give Righteous Bob's a visit.. just be aware of the overly stiff drinks they serve, ya mon. On the way be sure to check out the Mayreau Catholic Church, and the elevated view of Tobago Cays from behind.

Salt Whistle Bay is a little treasure.

SALT WHISTLE BAY !!! What a spot, it truly is a gorgeous place..But there is a BIG problem here..the guys who attempt to make a living from ripping off the tourists/yachters...
One of our crew had a ittle early day prob with the exchange rate..we had ordered 6 croissants from a guy in a light brown boat called "Mr Surprise". Well surprise surprise!!!!!..when our crew member thought he heard 40 EC dollars per croissant, he paid the guy 240 ECD..thats £10 per bread item !!!! The guy took the money and ran......TOTAL PIRACEY !!! Another guy in this bay ..he has a boat named "Going Green"...Very aggressive, nasty young man..issuing threats of violence to us..obviously drug related...AVOID HIM !!!! My advice don't deal with any of the guys here, its a cozy cartel aimed at maximising the extraction of money from vistors
Otherwise enjoy the charms of this beautiful bay...

The bay itself is beautiful, but this was severely overshadowed by observing somebody SPEAR-FISHING for frigate birds and boobies.

They were being lured near the shore with scraps of food, and when in range, the man in question was trying to shoot them down with a tension-sprung spear.

Disgusting cruelty at its worst. And not the way to attract any tourism.
