We booked a private tour with Urban Adventures - wonderful guide (Armando) and a beautiful classic car. We couldn't have asked for more! We arrived with a list of what we wanted to see - he provided that and far more. A great day!
Rolando speaks excellent English and gives clear information. He is also very personable. We toured several neighborhoods of Havana and saw a number of key sites of interest while riding in a 1950 Chevy.
My husband and I did this tour while staying in Havana for four days. Our tour guide was Rolando, and he was awesome! We were joined for the tour by one other couple, so it was a very small group and very personal. This tour...More

Yes, I used it when coming with Royal Caribbean. I contacted the company directly through their website by email and they got back to me very quickly. I designed a custom private tour, rather than taking a standard ones, and it was wonderful. I paid by credit card before I left for my cruise.

US citizens can travel independently if they are traveling under one of the general license categories. The only one that requires a tour is the "People to People" subcategory under Educational. You can read more on the "Cuban Adventures USA" website (google it).The law doesn't require you to fly directly from US, but you must be traveling legally to fly direct and the charter company will make you check a box and sign which license you are traveling under. Day tours can be a good way to travel independently and still meet the "full schedule of activities" requirement of your general license.
