The Yeni Tzami Mosque located in the North side of Mitilini the capital of Lesvos Island builded during the old time when Island was under Turkish o cupation.

one of the oldest in town from ottoman empire time. close to the port. can be visited by walking around the neighbour hood.

The mosque is closed and locked up, clearly needs renovation. The building seems to have been stabilised to prevent collapse but a lot of work needed

Easy to find this mosque is located in the "mainstreet" of Mytilini, the Ermou street not so far from the old harbor. Some people have tried to restore the building in 2011, but there is still much work. It is not possible to go inside.

After undergoing several (nonexistent) restorations which start and never finish, the Yeni Tzami is simply an unrecognizable ruin. Mytilene has a wonderful mosque. But they dont care it. It need a restoration. It has a wonderful garden and small mosque. You can see it from outside.

An old monument that holds on up to our days despite the years that has been built !!!! A lot of exhibitions are taking place there..
