The video interviews with oldies from the district are brilliant and something all districts should do with their seniors before time takes it toll. Well worth... More

Wanna step back in time... look back on the history of this area.... this is the place to stop a while and wander through the museum. Lady at the Information desk has lived there all her life... very helpful and interesting.

This was a well kept museum. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This was a well kept museum that fitted a whole lot of story into a small space. Gave a real sense of the stories and history of the area and added greatly to our understanding of the place.

It was a few months back now but we remember the congeniality of the helper and receiving a lot of information for our southern visit as well as the museum which is interesting and informative.

The Ladies who look after the administration were very friendly and helpful on places of interest to visit in the Catlins. The Museum was well worth looking through to gain an appreciation of the history and life in the Catlins from the beginnings to present.

A rainy snowy day in the Catlins and the nice lady at the Balclutha Isite suggested we visited the museum for a nice rainy day few hours. The museum is very small but quite interesting as it explains the history of the sawmills, railways and shipwrecks in the area. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful... More

We toured via Taieri Mouth and Lake Wahola to Balclutha and on to Kaka Point: the entry point to The Catlins for lunch and a beach walk, followed by a picturesque drive to the POP (Park Over Property) where the view across the bay to Nugget Point was beautiful. Having located the Pop for overnight we drove to the Nugget... More
