Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited to have a combination of vacation, and get out section in Aroa cleared.Caught with family, abit shopping, etc.
Only issue was Jetstar losing one of suitcases, took three days to fly it from AUCKLAND, so much for paying an extra 20kg for extra bags. Also never got told who removed and took my padlock off my bag.
Other than that take your insects repellent. ⁶

Stopped just for a picture of the crystal clear waters , a lovely beach for a stroll, however our destination for the bestest snorkelling spot was "Fruits of Rarotonga" snorkelling spot. Actual name? Tikioki Beach.

Really nice place to snorkel along this coast. The marine reserve is probably the nicest. Shallow at low tide but still good snorkeling.

The best snorkelling spot in rarotonga, the variety of fish and glimpses of intact coral made this super special, saw amazing blue clams

Thoroughly enjoyed snorkelling in the lagoon each day (especially the marine reserve section). Plenty of fish and large variety, some live corals. Can be a strong current (felt like I was swimming into a southerly!) so make sure you use flippers. Good place for children to learn to snorkel as it is shallow for a long way out and there are plenty of sandy parts to stand up whilst adjusting masks/snorkels etc without damaging the coral.

The beach itself was pretty shaded in the afternoons, being winter time and the row of trees along the roadside blocking the sun.
The snorkeling was average, some nice coral and fish but not as good as Fiji (Mana Island).
The seemed to be some reasonable currents at certain times/places but I don’t think it was dangerous.
Worth a visit

Spent many hours with the family in these waters. Lots to see and enjoy. Sheltered waters most days. Kayaked and snorkeling

Of course every beach on Rarotonga is great. I just can't give it a 5* because it is not perfect pristine white, there are TONS of sand crabs at night and the water is a little shallow in the lagoon for snorkelling but if you can manoeuvre yourself well around coral and rock when the tide is fully in, then it is fantastic for colourful fish n coral, even octopus, sea stars, eels and the odd ray.

This is one of the best places on the island to snorkel.
You can snorkel here any time from low tide through to high tide and you can comfortably swim right out to the reef.
A great number of small and colorful fish to be seen with some schools of bigger fish closer to the beach (they hand around the resort restaurant for feeding).
Water is very warm and usually very clear
