If you are interested in ancient Greek archaeology this place will probably be worth visiting as it is the birthplace of Aristotle. Stagira is best reached on food and is a short walk from the harbour end of Olimpiada. The ruins are spread out over...More

Frankly speaking I don't understand some comments talking about "a trip into ancient times". The place is beautiful and next to the parking lot there is a beautiful beach. The archeological site itself has no interest whatsoever. It is at the top of a hill...More

Interesting to visit, but in the summer it is to warm to walk around. The view is beautiful and the explanation correct.

See what the original site for the Olympics was like. You can still run the track, and see other stations. A fascinating mix of history and perspective on life. Nice and shady as well!

Stagira is an important site and the work undertaken reflects that. Not the most extensive digs but on difficult terrain one gains a feel for the scope of the town and the reason for the its location.
