About
Relaxation seeps into your body as you ease into the largest NATURAL hot springs pools in Canada. Liard River Hot Springs is a river of hot water that provides relief to Alaskan bound travellers after a long day on the road. The hot springs complex is of national ecological significance and is well known for its natural setting in a lush boreal spruce forest. The park is such a popular stop over for tourists that the campgound fills up early each day during the summer months. Liard is also open year-round. There is a hot spring open to the public with water temperatures ranging from 42° C to 52° C. Facilities include a change house and composting toilet. A boardwalk, which leads to the hot spring pools(A natural river of hot water), passes through a warm water swamp and boreal forest that supports rich and diverse plant communities as well as mammal and bird species.

    Top notch- best hotsprings ever
I'm only commenting on the Hot Springs. As we did not stay at the provincial park. These Hot Springs are about as natural as you can get with the added benefit of a boardwalk thru the marsh to get there, change rooms, steps into the water. It is amazing. There is a $5 charge per person to use. They man the gate from spring to fall. After thar you can walk in mind you, you are still suppose to pay with the honor system. So many hotsprings are so commercialized which takes away from the ambience I think. These spring are not. I have been to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland and I would pick Liard River Hotsprings over that.

    Relaxing Stop
Reviewing the hot springs only. We did not stay at the campground. Stopped in on our way to Alaska, It was great! Really nice ranger at the entrance, she shared some details about the area with us. It is $5.00 each for use of the springs. The park has an electric fence in place to protect human and wildlife. Easy walk back to the springs on the boardwalk. Open air, communal changing area. Two areas of the springs, one is cooler. Nice steps going into the springs. We didn't have any issues with mosquitos. We spotted the mama with cub just down the road after leaving the hot springs.

    Gorgeous campground and hot springs
We made reservations here well in advance and if you want to camp here I’d suggest doing the same. There are first come, first served spots but the campground was full by the time we pulled in at 2 pm. Really nice campground. No services. Easy walk to the hot springs. The hot springs themselves were beautiful. Treat yourself to a dip and relax! Beautiful settings and a gorgeous walk along the boardwalk. Maybe a 10 minute hike from the parking lot.

We found the hot springs disappointing.
We were particularly startled with the park ranger in attendance.
During a heavy thunderstorm he was telling people it was perfectly safe to be in the pools.
What the actual hell??
The pools were somewhat small and vey crowded.
We’ve been to other hot springs that appeared more natural and less crowded with considerably more enthusiasm than the Liard springs.
It’s more of a tourist trap that’s
Maybe a great place to visit once.

We’re here 9 years ago and it hasn’t changed. You can pay to Camp and it includes the Hot Springs or pay just for Day-Use. You walk about 1/4 on a boardwalk across a bog and passed a area chock full of Ferns. They have really nice changing rooms right at the Hot Springs. There are basically 2 pools and the water is cooler in lower pool and as you move up it get hotter & hotter. Campground was nice and quiet at night

The hot springs are a short walk from the parking area, through a bit of marsh. We saw a cow moose and her calf on our walk. The springs were a bit crowded but there was still plenty of room for all, and you could choose your temperature level for your comfort. There are change rooms and cubbies, but basically you leave your clothes somewhere dry and expect them to be there later.
Enjoy

Hard to leave this place! The hot springs are so soothing, beauty of nature all around, nice and clean change rooms. The camp sites are clean and in a beautiful setting in the woods. Lovely boardwalk to stroll on to the hot springs.

Stayed here for 2 nights en route to Alaska. The campground is good-minimal amenities but very quiet and well kept. What makes it exceptional is the hot springs. A short walk from the campground and you are in heaven. The pools are outside and just lovely. Wildlife sightings are common also. Simply perfect.

This place was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint!! It is a must stop along the Alaskan Highway! Natural hot springs and they are so beautiful! The campground is really nice too, great spots only a short boardwalk to the hot springs. Definitely worth an overnight stay here and get in a couple of soaks!

So glad we stopped to look. We parked across the road and walked into the park, if you wish to park in there, it's $5 per person.

There is a wooden board walk that takes you across the marshland to the hot springs, approx a 10 min walk. The water made my skin feel so soft, so glad we went.

Keep your food in the car and only take your towel to the springs, no need to tempt the wildlife. There are changing rooms there. The springs are natural looking, so much nicer than the alternatives out there that resemble swimming pools, go, you won't regret it!

Walking back I heard a man talk about seeing moose in the marshes in the evening - along with lots of bugs, not sure if he was joking or not though.

Having been to over 2 dozen hot springs in BC and the western US this is one of my faves. It's huge and very enjoyable. The nearby changerooms are tastefully done if a bit large to be so close to the pools but clean and functional. I was pleased to note that the park employee said, in answer to a guys question about rules around nudity " well everyone has to wear bottoms but Canadian law says topless is fine." I took it upon myself to add that , in my experience, things relax a bit more after dark. Bring lots of drinking water. You'll need it. I tend to only go in winter. This is literally a hotspot for Grizzly. They love the place too...especially the upper beta pool.
