Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As you climb the dirt and stony road that leads to the Rocca when you are almost close to your destination, catch your breath in front of this little gem, with the valley at its feet, and the Gran Sasso behind it. Always closed, without a sign indicating any days or accessibility times or someone's contact telephone number (at least during the May tourist influx periods!!) Too bad!! Italy is full of sites off-limits to the tourist eye..

The church itself might be, well, not really spectacular, but the surroundings - just gorgeous!
A lot of people are just lying on the grass in front of the church looking into the distance - and you'll understand why as soon as you get there.

Not something you come across everyday, a church at the top of a huge mountain range! It was a shame the doors were not open to the public..

If you keep walking along the path that leads to the Rocca Calascio, you will come upon this church perched on the edge of the rock. It was built between the 16th and 17th centuries. It lies at about 1,432 meters above sea level. Unfortunately, it was closed to visitors on the day that we visited.

The chapel is - nothing special. But it is located on very high hilltop (mountaintop even), above the city. It gives breathtaking panorama of nearby valleys and mountains. From nearby the church you have even nicer view than from the castle itself. You can just sit there and watch for hours. Be aware that nearest parking (at the entrance to the upper city - 42°19'41.6"N 13°41'34.3"E) is rather small. From the parking you have 10-20 minutes hike uphill (depending on you condition) through the upper city and the hill side. In the upper city you have 1 or 2 restaurants to rest after visiting .

This is simply a beautiful church. Not the church but the location makes it unforgettable. We could not enter because it was closed, but the loneliness with the mountain background makes the perfect place for a picture.
Note:church was closed during daytime in june.

I entered to rest and pray, struck by the external appearance of this jewel from which the view is splendid. In the apse area there is a fresco of the Pieta of 600, wonderful.Hope that the funds arrive for a complete restoration of the interior.
