- Manny-Kaye G390 contributionsA reminder that some humans have no respect for natureAnother place to see the magnificent view of NC mountains, so PLEASE do not destroy the area with trash and graffiti. We would say the trails were still easy given that these were 0.1 to 0.25 miles. We visited in the spring, so we some flowers including the mountain laurel. Nature's beauty was bastardized by graffiti thanks to deplorable human beings. We heard that the people living in the upscale area across Jump of Rock think that they own the place and would sometimes harass visitors. We did not experience this and everyone we encountered during our visit was pleasant and respectable.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 19 May 2024
- Tim LJefferson, Georgia2,033 contributionsAmazing view.Jump Off Rock State Park in Hendersonville, NC is unique and has no admission fee! Located at the top of a mountain, it is accessed by winding, somewhat narrow city streets. Driving there requires attentiveness due not only to other vehicles, but the views can be quite distracting as you drive. The trails at the top are somewhat to very strenuous but to access the view from the rock simply requires good footing.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 July 2024
- BoardingPass3148132 contributionsJump OffWhile out for a ride we went to Jump Off Rock in Laurel, North Carolina. It was a bit of a pain to get to because it took us through a residential area that had a 25 mph speed limit. We’re glad the trip through the residential area didn’t deter us. Because the view from Jump Off Rock was fabulous. I will have to return for Fall Foliage.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 July 2024

We so enjoyed visiting this beautiful park. We enjoyed all three of the hikes, each had a different view and varied in length, none of which was difficult. The views are amazing and we enjoyed watching the sunset each evening, so beautiful. Don’t miss this little gem.

Very scenic drive up to the lookout. Beautiful view. Not many others there. A great socially distanced stop. Hiked the red trail, it was not very long but very beautiful. Very glad we made the stop.

Beautiful mountains & view. Lots of trails to walk if you are interested. The drive to the Jump off Rcck was quite winding & narrow because of the mountains. Use the restrooms before you leave for the rock. No restrooms near the rock. Took lots of pictures . Place was pretty isolated when we visited.

We drove up while visiting Hendersonville for the day. You really can see for quite a distance. It’s a nice area with a few benches.
We walked the easiest trail and you really could be done in 10 minutes.
The parking lot was nearly full on a Saturday afternoon (probably about 30 cars). We were a little surprised because it was overcast.
It’s not a place that we’d return to visit but enjoyed our time there. It’s not a bad place. We saw what’s we expected and is a perfectly fine place to go. Sunsets are probably amazing.

We arrived about 1.5 hours before sunset. Part of the adventure was the drive up and down, keep that in mind when you use your GPS! We took the Easy trail hike to kill some time and made the usual pictures and selfies. The view and sunset were lovely, but, not spectacular. Still, it was something to do and seemed fitting for our anniversary.

Awesome view from the rock and signs give you the history. It’s a little bit of a challenge to navigate to it. Hiking trails are really just walking trails and aren’t always clearly marked. Windy up there even though it wasn’t below. We won’t stop here again.

Although the drive took very steep and winding roadways, the views were definitely worth it. It’s an out-of-the-way attraction, but beautiful.

The view is amazing at this spot although it can be tricky getting there. The Laurel Parkway is curved and changes names plus some GPS systems sometime tell you to go through gated communities, which do not work unless you live there or are visiting someone there.
The history is also interesting.

I often take first-time visitors to our new mountain home to do some shopping in Hendersonville, and then I'll say... "come with me, I'd like to show you why we moved to the Blue Ridge!" we proceed west on 5th Ave up through Laurel Park to "The Rock" and watch them gasp in awe!

I'm not sure what I expected on the way to Jump Off Rock, but I sure was curious after hearing and reading so much about it. Underrated? It sure is! If you are anywhere near this spot, take the time to visit. The view is breathtaking - no exaggeration! We took the winding road to Laurel Park, parked the car and wandered over to the rock and viewing place to find a view with multiple layers and shades of those Blue Ridge Mountains. Having never seen them before, it was awesome in the truest sense of the word. I'm sure we'll visit many times again to see those shades of blue in their different seasons of the year.

Can you see the view from my van? Will have a disabled person who probably can’t navigate out on a rock.

Yes you can see part of the view from the parking lot. There is a gravel path that goes up to 40 feet of the cliff.
Written 27 June 2019
do you have to hike the trails to get to see the view, or is that extra stuff to do?
Written 29 October 2016
You don't have to hike the trails, you're parking, literally 150' from the rock and there are benches that allow you to extend your stay. Depending on when you go, you might consider a jacket, it gets very breezy up there but well worth the trip.
