The memorial is actually very reflective, as a representation and there is a wall, near the foot bridge, with a description of the events. But the whole area is unkept and there is rubbish etc. There is also a row of stalls along the footpath...More

This memorial place is just behind an other memorial place that is located on private property ( on hotels' soil). Despite the nice design and location this spot should be kept clean and spotless. It is not the case. I do hope the municipality will...More

It’s a nice monument to look at if you are around. Easy to walk past. Doesn’t say how many people died so could be more informative.

Actually just a small area by the beach - not a lot to see but still worth passing by and taking a picture

Only one monument to see. Really, a really nice gesture to commemorate the victims of the tsunami. But I can not powiedzić that this is the place for which it is worth to go.

The memorial is located at a strategic chokepoint between Rim Hat Road and Kamala Beach, one of the areas worst hit by the 2004 tsunami. However it is unkempt and more often than not, goes unnoticed by the scantily-dressed crowds that pass by the memorial....More

This memorial is matched by others along the Western coast, including a good sombre one in Khao Lak. Unfortunately the Plaza is currently affected by the large amount of construction going on in the beach area, however it is most definitely worth the visit.

Which we had, or more accurately, we didn’t realise that the big wave had hit Thailand right in that spot. We’d walked past this abstract art piece a couple of times going down to the beach for a swim before looking at the plaque. A...More

You can't miss it if you travel in Kamala or Surin. This sculpture is close to the main wonderful beach. It reminds the disaster, with a board explaining the history and the consequences. To not be missed. We would give 5 stars if the surrounding...More

A timely reminder of the devastation the area but not maintained to a standard that would be considered acceptable. The sculpture is really impressive but that's it..... there was grass overgrowing, rubbish and the whole place is unkept - which is similar to the beach...More

This is such a beautiful and well crafted sculpture to remember those that lost their lives here in Kamala. It is such a shame that is is next to the open sewage river and in a filthy park which is not maintained well at all....More

Of the tragic boxing day in 2004 when so many people lost their lives. Kamala has rebuilt it's life but the sadness and sorrow still lingers on with the families who lost their loved ones
