Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting place, small though. There were no English translations, but the guides were very helpful in Chinese. Nice to visit on your way to the temple up the mountain.

I wasn't very impressed with the museum part... it was under renovation and looked like it was thrown together in about five minuets in someone's basement. Most of the artifacts' descriptions are in Chinese but a few are in English.

The house and grounds were nice. I've been living in Asia for over a year now and I've definitely seen pretty, bigger, more interesting places. There was no admission for this attraction. This place reminded me of a residence and garden in Taipei that I enjoyed much more!

I don't think this place is worth a special trip or anything, especially if you are on a limited schedule.

It is housed in an old mansion which gives visitors a good feel of how old Taiwan. The various living rooms, bedrooms, study and kitchen gave one a feel of the day to day lives of the Taiwanese probably from the late 1800s to early 1900s. At the basement level, there were displays of artefacts and hand-painted kites, furniture and even farm "machinery". Fell in love with the garden area - with ponds and carp giving one a sense of serenity on a hot summer morning. Worth the visit - you need only spend less than an hour to get a good sense of how a rich Taiwanese household would have been managed.

I came here with my husband with a local friend. We are impressed with the way the place was well preserved . although the outside was typical local village, but the interior was very impressive and comfortable. We even had a complimentary tea to drink after the long walk, and it was very refreshing to enjoy the fresh air and the calmness.

A nice respite in the middle of Beitun. Explore the beautiful historic buildings and take a break on a hot day.

It is not very big, but very pleasant. There are small garden with a beautiful pond and some traditional stores. The entrance is free. When you are tired walking, you can take a rest here.

Invisible hands restore the ruined year,
And time itself grows beautifully dim.
All comers are the who walk with beauty.

Meander around the park, look at the turtles and ducks in the pond, get an ice cream. Then go downstairs to the museum.
Some of the exhibits have English explanations, many do not. For those of you who have lived in Tw, you know how hard the beds and pillows are. Now I know why: the predecessor of the modern, soft and fluffy pillow was made of bamboo, brick, or porcelain.
There are even some craft projects to work on with new friends.

It's a good place to visit. It's possible to visit some rooms with traditional furniture. However, some places are not open because it's under restoration now.
