Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Found this track by accident as did other walkers on the trail. Great walking. Some hill - easy going. Raised foot bridges in areas to avoid any mud. We will start earlier next time and take a picnic.

Post covid walk. Started from the opposite end of the track from Taieri river mouth. Gravel road for a few km until you reach a ran down old building. The walk follows the river. We went about half way and came back. Track was dry at this time of the year, but it can be very muddy. Some nice picnic spots and benches to sit on along the way. We then drove to Taieri river moth for the girls to play on the small swing at the other end. If you get a chance walk to the back to see the sea lions.

We visited with our 4 & 6 year old kids. An easy and scenic drive from Dunedin. What an amazing day. Car parking a breeze. The trail is stunning with views over the river, lovely forest, amazing echos and easy hiking. With bridges, board walk, places to skim stones and stop for a rest - it’s the perfect destination for outdoorsy families. Also ideal for trail runners. Our six yr old tried his hand at fishing too. This has become a favourite outdoor destination for us.

We tried this in the winter and the paths were very muddy. Unfortunately, we were not wearing the best footwear (we still had trainers on) and had to turn back after a few kilometres. There are some lovely views over the Taieri river but the walk is 8km long but in only one direction. There is plenty of parking at the start on the grass verge.
