Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just a few kilometers outside of Jogja, maybe 100 meters left from the road (but not visible), is this ancient Buddhist building - maybe a temple, maybe a monastery. Scholars disagree, but I find the monastery argument unconvincing - this is not how they looked. Library plus sanctuary, perhaps. This temple's surroundings have just been upgraded and the grounds are nice, but the place is completely untouristic. Key for me is that you can go inside the temple, as only then can you truly experience it, even though it's empty. All is clean without being slick. Very nice spiritual atmosphere. The reliefs on the outside are extremely fine and second to none in central Java, and that is saying a lot - one can nicely contemplate them from strategically placed, comfy benches under leafy trees. The admission fee is a bizarre 13 eurocents, both for locals and foreigners. Together with Candi Mendut, I think it is the loveliest site in the region - the latter is still more of a living temple, because the Buddha statues are still there, and a more impressive architecture, but Candi Sari is more quiet, hidden, and more precious with its intricate stonework.

Average Buddhist temple is very masculine. Forms tough, a little relief, the dominance of stupa.
But this temple is really rich in detail and impressed feminine like a Hindu temple.
Stupa shape whose size is approximately equal to Ratna.
That makes people aware that this Buddhist temple is a statue of Buddha inside.
really cool
If you are not an observer of the building, or you are not one who likes to things cultural or religious. Do not ever come.
You just spend your time, with your comment that is inappropriate.
This temple is very valuable, very beautiful in detail

Rata-rata candi Budha sangat maskulin. Bentuk keras, sedikit relief, dominasi stupa.

Built during the same era of Kalasan temple, another majestic temple in Jogja. Although it is small compare to other temples but still very beautiful and full of historical information.

Cant remember how much for the entrance fee but it should be around IDR3000 for the entrance and another IDR5000 for the parking.

The original function of this building was for Buddhist monastery, so you able to look for number of Buddhist carvings and number of statue inside this temple. Kind a dark inside the temple, so try to use torchlight to look for some Buddhist carving on the wall.

Candi Sari, or Sari Temple, is the common name for this building, but in fact it was probably a two-storey Buddhist monastery. Located just 130 metres from Candi Kalasan, it was originally part of the same religious complex. Today, however, the main Solo-Yogya, with its incessant traffic, goes between the two ancient structures.

The wooden floor between the two floors has now rotted away, giving the interior a spacious feel. There are no interior stairways, so ladders must have been used eventually. For anyone with a serious interest in ancient South-East Asia, this place is worth a poke around. Generalists can just go straight to nearby Prambanan, one of the region's artistic treasures.

Sari Temple is a Buddhist temple and is located about 3 km from Kalasan Temple. It is estimated to be built at the same time as Kalasan Temple around 8th century AD. Candi Sari means beautiful temple. It is now being restored and should look lovely when it is completed.

Based on history and ancient script, Sari temple was main building of monastery compound. The temple has connection to Kalasan temple. There are 3 rooms and have some holder for floor woods. It is mean the room has some place to keep book in upstairs. Unfortunately, there is only one temple remained now..

It is nice to see the curving and the temple was built use egg-white to stick stones. you can see the remained egg-white on the wall of temple. The temple is closed with Kalasan temple and across the road.

There are many Tara Goddess curved on wall of temple and It is beautiful carved and outstanding architecture.

If you'd find yourself in Kalasan, have a look at this small, ancient temple, and don't forget to climb up to see a few more reliefs inside. Bring a flashlight.
