We booked Greg for four hours, two hour tour in the morning, had 90 minutes for lunch at the pub, then finished off with two hours. Highly recommend him!
Has so much local knowledge, we would've been absolutely lost. He picked us up from the ferry and took us literally everywhere.
Once the tour had ended, he chatted to us about the other things on the island we could do. He helped us book a kiwi spotting tour that evening (which I'd tried but the website said the service was out of season) and also a salmon boat tour the next day.
If you are going to Stewart Island, Greg and his tour are an absolute must do. Don't bother hiring a car from the pub, just get Greg to take you around.

We used Aurora Cabs as a pick up from Lee Bay at the end of the Rakiura track to Oban. It was a very stormy day and we were pleased to see him at the end of what was a tiring days walk with our packs.
It costs us 30 dollars for 2 ppl, though I think that's the standard price for the shuttle from Lee Bay to Oban.
The driver was friendly and very knowledgeable of the area as well. Enjoyed our short drive. Recommended.

Gregg was recommended to us (4 adults) for a private tour. He is the perfect person for this given his knowledge, links to the island, sense of humour and professionalism. We were taken to places and given information that enhanced our stay

Greg was fantastic. He was waiting to pick us up off the ferry. We were only doing a day trip to Stewart Island so only had limited time. Greg is a friendly local so we spent an hour and a half touring some of the Islands main points of interest with someone who has lots of inside knowledge. He even helped us buy so some local hot chips, and they were very good. Highly recommended. We went on to do the Ulva Island explorer tour in the afternoon, which was great too.

My partner and I had the pleasure of going on a 1.5 hour tour around the Island with Greg. It felt so much faster though as Greg took the time to give us local knowledge and insights that I truely believe we would not have gotten on any other tour. We were treated to seeing parts of the Island I know tourists simply would not have access to, and Greg kindly provided us with tips for our stay. Don’t hesitate to book with Aurora and have someone who knows the island (and all 400 residents) show you the sights!

This is a very busy business as the only cab company on Stewart Island. We used them twice as drop off and pickup from Rakiura track. Very friendly and knowledgeable driver. Text is best way to contact them as they don't pickup callls when driving. We got a recommendation for a day walk which we thoroughly enjoyed to Wohlers monument around Deep bay. It cost $50 for pickup from Lee Bay.

Could not recommend more! We took a number of rides with Greg due to a injury and he was easy to contact and always able to help. Shared so much knowledge and kindness with us. Thank you Greg!

Arrived at the island and hadn't heard back about the usual tour. Heard about Greg's tour through a local. Turned out to be the perfect thing to do. Very personal and educational showing of island life. Highly recommended.

We took a taxi from Halfmoon Bay over to Golden Bay to catch the water taxi to Ulva Island. It isn't too far but it is a steep climb up then down the other side. The driver was really great - with local knowledge. He turned up promptly - would recommend.

My accommodation hostess organised my pick-up from the ferry terminal on arrival and delivery back to the terminal on departure.
Prompt service, and lovely engaging driver who talked about the island recommended things to do.
