About
Nockie’s Palette - where art meets wine. Nockie’s Palette Wines was created with a vision to combine Michael Nock’s love of wine with his passion for art. Nockie’s Palette believes it is the artist or artisan who contributes the most value in the production of something truly great. Thus, we seek out winemakers that are considered among the world’s best in a range of different grape varieties. Just as the artist has a palette of paints and colours, Nockie’s Palette offers a palette of handcrafted wines showcasing unique hues, textures, flavours and terroir. Nockie’s Palette wines exhibit the best terroirs in the Australiasian region, from Central Otago Pinot Noir to Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay and Barossa Valley Shiraz. Besides wine tasting, Nockie’s Palette offers inspirational activities such as wine & paint. Cellar Door closed dates in 2023: 3 Apr, 7 Apr, 9 Apr, 25 Apr, 5 Jun and 25 & 26 Dec. Please book for your tasting on all other days in advance.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an excellence experience here. Simon introduced us to many wines during our tasting, and educated us on many aspects of them. He was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable.
Given my knowledge of wines is limited, it was really nice to have someone who could take my descriptions of what I like and recommend what I should try. The atmosphere was also wonderful. Very cozy and comfortable.
Many other wine tasting trips I have been on have felt corporate and touristy. This one felt like we were at someone's home, who just happens to own a vineyard! :)
Very much recommended for those in the Queenstown area!

Thank you for sharing your delightful experience! We're glad Simon made your tasting special. Providing personalized recommendations is our goal, and we're thrilled you felt at home in our cozy setting. Your recommendation for a non-corporate, intimate experience means a lot. Fantastic personal wine tasting experience. Beautiful setting and Simon was brilliant at the tasting, very knowledgeable but then gave us time to taste the wine and talk by ourselves about it before returning to answer any extra questions and pouring the next wine. Outstanding tasting experience.

We visited Nockies Palette on 3 Jan 2023 for a wine tasting.
Stella was amazing! She dedicated a lot of time to telling us about the wines, the owner, and the origins of the business. Highly recommend going to Nockies Palette and requesting Stella :)

We were told that “if you buy 2 bottles, the tasting would be free”. We paid and went outside to wait for bus. The bartender came out and told we hadn’t paid enough for the bottles and that we hadn’t paid for 1 of the tastings. We had to pay an extra $30 on top of what we thought was correct.
Waited for bus only to find out the bus had been told by Nockie’s to collect us from a different spot because of a wedding, but didn’t tell the 2 groups waiting. We were all then late for our booked lunches.
While waiting for the next bus we went back inside and we’re offered a drink. After drinking these drinks they came around with the eftpos machine for us to pay for these drinks.
So inhospitable because of their mistakes.

This is a an absolutely breathtaking venue and cellar door. The scenery and gardens are second to none so you can do your wine tasting inside with an amazing outlook.
We were served by Stella during our tasting who was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and was happy to answer any and all questions.
I will definitely be recommending Nockie’s Palette to anyone I know who is visiting Queenstown

Visited the very beautiful Nockie's Palette with 2 friends for a Sip & Paint experience. We had no idea what to expect, and were delighted to be warmly greeted by Molly, who had arranged our table by the window, complete with painting aprons, easels & beautiful quality acrylic paint jars ready to go. It was freestyle, so for a complete novice like myself, I painted a daffodil that I'd recently photographed. We ordered the hot rosemary & garlic camembert (OMG!!) to accompany our wine and painting. It was a wonderful outing, in gorgeous surroundings. Highly recommend this for something different to do with friends. Special thanks Molly for her friendly help in organising our visit.

We visited Nockie's Palette as part of the Hop-On, Hop-Off wine tour and we were very impressed not only with the location but with the wine offerings and particularly the cheeseboard. In fact, we were so impressed, we went back 3 days later for more wine and another cheeseboard.
The staff on both occasions were superb to deal with, Eliza was there both times we visited, and her knowledge not only of the offerings at Nockie's Palette but also the surrounding areas was great.
I highly recommend a visit to Nockie's Palette, and Eliza, your customer service really is outstanding, keep up the great work!

We arrived ten minutes before closing and Eliza was so gracious to host us and take us through the premium tasting. It was awesome!
Eliza was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We never felt rushed or an inconvenience. It felt like our very own private wine tasting experience. We learned about the estate, Nockie’s Palette and, of course, the wines. The cellar door is tucked away on the beautiful estate in the owner’s old rebuilt cottage - genuinely stunning views.
The wine is superb. We bought two bottles and can’t wait to crack them open. Thanks Eliza.

Nockies was the winery we were most looking forward to on our tour as it looked stunning and how cool is that rosè bottle!?
We were just all totally disappointed. There was a group of 5 of us. When we walked in the staff weren't friendly and to be honest looked super flustered despite us being the only group there, and we had booked 2 weeks prior to coming. The lady who did our tasting just didn't really seem too into it. Noticeably more than one of the wines we tasted had an awful smell to them. Not sure if it was the glassware or the wine. This was the only winery we went to that we didn't purchase wine. Just very underwhelming I'm sad to say.

Stonebridge is stunning! The cellar door is built from an old Hokitika church and there’s a lovely old chapel on the site too.
We tried their Pinot taster and loved all four. Eliza gave us lots of interesting info about each and was very friendly and knowledgeable. We also briefly met Nockie himself which was a nice touch.
Highly recommended - we got there on the hop on hop off bus toor but it should also be an easy drive from Queenstown
