This wonderful historic church was gutted by fire, and a beautiful job has been done of creating a modern place of peace and worship filled with natural light, encased in the original sandstone facade and stained glass. Perfect for the modern Parramatta in the cradle of modern Australia…

I thought this was closed, I approached from the Victoria Road side, then noticed the gates were open as I ventured down Marsden Street. Went in and was surprised by the austerity. Prettier on the outside.

This cathedral is a building of two halves it seems - original sandstone and a much bigger, more modern main church. The statue of Christ and the crown of thorns are well worth a visit.

The original Cathedral burnt down years ago, I havent been back here for years but went very recently. I love how they have preserved the old parts and have built a new and modern church. Great architecture.
