Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An enchanted place, a fairytale place. The water takes on a unique color, from emerald green to intense blue. You can get to a spring via a path or by following the shore. There is a refreshment area that we did not visit. Even though it was August 15th, there wasn't a crowd of people. Unique place to enjoy in complete tranquility.

Stunning view that consoles the tortuous but exceptional route of the Sagittarius gorges to get there. The lake is artificial but of absolute beauty and emerald in color due to the woods that are reflected. The bridge and the hermitage are suggestive.

Nice and accessible by car, although parking is very few. You can stand on the lakeside beach to admire the crystal clear water. Too bad it's not bathing. Overlooking the lake is the hermitage of S. Domenico where you can visit the cave where the saint used to pray for free.

A simple and untouched natural beauty. Beautifully colored lake with a spring on the left bank (including a path that should lead to the village of Villalago) and the hermitage with the pedestrian bridge on the right bank. In the center there is a small beach with a small kiosk and picnic area. Beautiful. Bathing prohibited but you can bathe near the shore, no one says anything.

Stupendo!
We parked on the street and just got out of the car ... immediately the wonder ... a mom deer with her puppy who ate very close to us!
10 minutes of WOW and then we headed towards the bridge leading to the hermitage of San Domenico.
Very nice lake with all shades of green!
A gem: the fountain at the end of the bridge ... delicious and fresh water!
The kiosk was closed... we would have eaten there with pleasure but not bad.... we headed towards Villalago which can be reached in 5 minutes!

We paired this lake after our visit to Scanno. Much less crowded and in my opinion more relaxing.
There are few parking spaces, we parked on the street.
It feels like being in a canyon.
There is also a kiosk that makes kebabs

Enchanting Italy. Magic Abruzzo, a region in the Middle of the peninsula, in the pictures you could appreciate the Lake of Villalago.

Stop here for a wonderful view of the lake. We went out of season and it was a lovely sunny day - on a warm day it's worth stopping here with a picnic. The lake is a wonderful colour - go into the church (second on your left) - it looks closed but unlock it from the outside and walk past the altar - climb some steps and you will find the hidden sanctuary of San Domenico.

On the way to Scanno this small artifical lake with favolous colours ... you can have a stop for a picnic or for a walk in the bush (you can arrive up to villalago). Have a break here.

It was a very busy day along the road between Villalago and Lago di Scanno.
We were unable to park but were fortunate enough to have been able to take photos en route.
The water is an amazing azure and wish we were able to have stopped and explored it further.
