The boat is about average fishing boat. Fishing gear was good. The staff were Ok but didn't speak English. The boat is old and slow. Its good for troll fishing. But max speed is less than 8 knots. So you need to consider travel distance to location. It needs cleaning because it's full of cockroaches. And that can be disturbing to clients.

Not recommend to those really want to catch big fish bros.
Just catch a few small fish which you can catch the same size fish at mai kao beach. Wasting time and wasting money

Having previously had one less than perfect fishing trip from Chalong I asked tour agency in Patong a lot of questions, and was expecting similar format, troll in morning, swim and bottom fish with spinning rods after lunch. Concern started on hotel pick ups when I saw how many anglers being picked up, was sure too many for trolling posts which proved the case. Relieved somewhat when some cancelled at last minute and were not picked up.
Got to pier, desk set up with spinning rods. Explained I was left handed and would need reel handle switched to left hand. Then told we would be using hand lines, not rods. Asked if I could rent rod, could not. Others in group equally surprised as like me had been told all rods would be suppled, nothing about handlines. Only person still wanting to fish had his own rod. This was re-inforced when established too many anglers for trolling positions so would have to rotate. Representative did try and contact agencies, but at 2 minutes past planned departure time told boat was leaving with one angler. Then transport bus left without notice leaving us all stranded at pier. Handline fishing is really hard work, particularly if have decent sized fish on, lady angler did not think could do. Having paid 500 tbt to get back to hotel I looked in vain on brochure and company web site for any photo showing handlines, not one. I rejected other trips because brochure clearly stated handlines used, maybe why theirs did not. My advice, only book a fishing trip on personal recommendation. Personally after 4 trips in Thailand ranging from down right awful to disappointing I may never fish here again. If i do I will wait for boats to return to dock and ask customers how it went.

Were out with them in the join-in and private boat 6 times in 2 weeks together with my friend Hans. Every single trip was worth its money. We caught pretty good fishes like king, barracuda, tuna, grouper, JT and many others. Crew were very friendly and they know the area to and around Kho Racha Islands very well. Snorqueling is a nice add-on, but fishing is the main topic. Lunch tasty and ice-cold drinks all the time. Highly recommended for everyone who wants to take one day off the beach.

Boat left the quay with 9 on board. After 90 mins we stopped for 2 hours of hand lining with 80lb mono and 2 baited hooks catching small fish. This was pot luck as you could not feel the bites. Crew spoke no English so I was showing 3 people what to do. Had lunch on the boat which consisted of a fish stew from what we had caught (no fish was over 150g). Heads and all. Chicken wings, veg dish, chicken dish, and rice. Pineapple and wartermelon to follow. Chance look at the galley revealed that it was a little cluttered to say the least. Stopped for snorkalling and swimming. Back to trolling. All went sunbathing or sleeping. Hour later we hit some small fish (200g) on feathers (?). 9 in all. Back to quay by 17.00.

The kit was not suitable for this kind of fishing. Hand lines, heavy fish gear. This needs a re-think by somebody who knows what they are doing otherwise these poor reviews will keep coming.

I know the "fishing not catching" debate, but please get the gear right and have somebody to teach novices. It's not that difficult. Heavy handlines and heavy trolling gear on feathers are not right.

This gives fishing a bad name. Hence my marking.

Skipper never left the wheelhouse. That gives a clue!

My husband and I took this trip on December 11, 2018. Transportation was provided to and from our hotel- the driver was prompt. The staff on the boat was extremely polite, attentive and spoke English well. There were about 5 staff members for 14 guests. (Not all were fishing.)

When you enter the boat your are asked to draw a card, this is used to determine the order of reeling in the fish. I was #5 and my husband was #10. I thought that was a great idea so that we were able to take photos of each other during our turn. However, being that there were 14 people on our tour (12 who were fishing) we were only able to reel in fish one time. I was lucky enough to catch two tunas on one line. Numbers 1&2 were able to go again on the way back. You start out trolling on your way to lunch, break for lunch, hand line and the troll on the way back. We didn't have any luck hand lining, but other individuals did.

While the staff was prepping lunch we were able to snorkel and swim. The lunch was simple but nice and consisted of fried rice, fried chicken, raw tuna that we had caught, and cooked tuna that we had caught. I am not keen on tuna, so I was glad that there was an option for me at lunch. My husband, however, was happy with fresh caught tuna.

We have been on several fishing tours and fish independently on our own. For the price that we paid we were content, however, if we could do it again we would book a private fishing tour.

Myself and 2 children 13 son and 18 old doughtier enjoined the fishing day yesterday very much, mainly because we did catch nice fish on trolling (no success on gigging with plastic wheels, no rods).
Crew made efforts that we are comfortable, but communication was very limited due to very poor English. Food was tasty, and we eat the fish that we catch. At night however, all of us had stomach poisoning from the food. We are certain that it was from lunch food, because it was the only meal we eat yesterday. I called the company this morning, and the lady who answered the phone asked me to complain with the agency I booked. It was only when I insisted that she should be the one that take the complain she said something not very clear about checking it. Sorry was not used either.

I went out on a day trip at the end of July with 3m seas and winds gusting to around 20 knots. I felt safe at all times as in my opinion the staff were competent.
I had read up before the trip and was aware that we would only be trolling and bottom bashing. I had chosen this tour rather than paying double the price for one of the more focused fishing trips. Everyone that was fishing managed to reel in a fish on the trolling lines. No luck on the bottom bashing mainly due to the weather conditions. The staff put fish in plastic bags for anyone that wanted to take their fish back with them after the tour.
The lunch was basic but nice and consisted of fried rice, fried chicken, raw tuna that we had caught, and cooked tuna that we had caught. Snorkeling gear was adequate.

My 8yo sun and I went out for a day fishing trip on a join on arrangement. We had a really fun day. Started off trolling and we hit a big school of small tuna, and everyone had a good go. At lunch we pulled into a beautiful bay and the crew cooked up a tasty lunch consisting of the tuna we just caught cooked two ways (the soup was sensational), fried rice, chicken wings salad an fresh fruit. After lunch we swam and snorkelled in crystal clear water with heaps of fish and coral. We then tried a bit of bottom fishing and bagged a few cod on the smaller side. Finished the day trolling with not much action. It’s definitely not a 5 star game fishing tour so don’t go expecting that but that is reflected in the price. It was a relaxed day fishing Thai style and was great fun. The skipper and crew were great all day.

We booked our fishing tour our first day in Thailand, from a super market, so we didn't have time to read reviews. After I got back to the hotel, I looked at reviews, and got a bit nervous, a lot of not so great reviews. However most were complaining about the group tours, and we had chartered the boat with just our group. I am very glad that we had a private charter, it made the cruise much more enjoyable (or less awkward, any way), and I call it a cruise, because that was essentially what it was. The captain and first mate were nice enough, they didn't speak much English, but that doesn't bother me, we were able to communicate alright, so no real complaints about that. The issue we had, is that they didn't seem to have a clue how to fish. I understand that it is called fishing, not catching, and no one can control how the fish are going to bite (or not), but I am pretty sure that neither of our crew had a clue how to catch fish. They put out 5 lines, 4 with lures, 1 with a mackerel (?). 2 of the lines with lures were only about 10 feet behind the boat, 1 was about 20 feet behind the boat, and the 4th was about 30 feet behind the boat. I know this, because I spend the whole "cruise" watching them water ski on top of the water. The 5th line with the bait was probably about 100 feet behind the boat. We did manage to catch 1 small tuna (never seen a tuna this small before, looked about the size of a trout), which the crew prepared for us for lunch (which was really good). To make things even worse, the first mate was not paying attention at all. We did get 3 other bites, but we had to yell at him to come set the hook, and he was usually up front with the captain, or up on the top deck taking a nap, and by the time he got his wits about him, the fish had spit the hook, and were gone. When we got back to the dock, just as more confirmation that it wasn't just a bad day for fishing, everyone we saw leaving the other boats were carrying huge tuna in each hand (2 per person).

The good is we enjoyed the lunch, and the bay that we stopped for lunch and snorkeling was gorgeous. I am glad that we did the private charter, so we didn't have to deal with other strangers, it was a more relaxed environment.
