Sometimes it seems useless to rate a place that has only positive reviews, but this museum is so well, and beautifully, put together that it deserves a special mention. I learned how spades and hoes and nails used to be forged long before machines were invented to produce them, something that had never crossed my mind. That's what folk museums should always do,make you stop to THINK!

The Museum offers an effective reconstruction (such as its name promises) of the popular cultural life in the province of Trento, with regard to ways of life, to crafts, to techniques, to intangible heritage. The work's instruments and environments are a main subject of exhibition, with reconstructions - mostly very suggestive - made with original material. Thus we see and understand the work of blacksmiths, millers, carpenters, weavers, potters, etc., and of course the various practices connected with agriculture, pastoralism, forestry. Also some spaces of traditional houses - with their furnishings - are reproduced. A part of the museum is dedicated to traditional folk festivals and religious rites The Museum well justifies a visit time of two hours or even more. If a criticism can be formulated, is the following. The tangible and intangible culture of Trentino is presented as something "taken for granted" rather than subject to change over time. The category of "pre-industrial" absorbs virtually a very long time: in my opinion is missing a sufficient sense of historic change.

This is a small museum that is a must see for anyone visiting this area. It is located conveniently off the autostrada and offers a real eye full into the past traditions of the Alps. Great for children as well as adults!
