We highly recommend this tour! Our morning started with being picked up from our accommodation by friendly Megan and taken to her 200-acre riding ranch near Surranda Bay on the Coral Sea. Megan does a wonderful job with her many rescue horses and was very good checking out everyone’s riding experience to match us up with appropriate horses - all of which may have some quirks from their past mistreatment but are wonderful animals. We loved riding through the Island’s countryside, farms, mangrove rainforest and even through a village preparing for a local wedding! Meanwhile, Megan and her local Ni-Vanuatu riding guide explained some of the native bush and birds we saw. The best part was riding through a freshwater stream covered with mangrove trees down to the sea, and of course Megan herself. We sincerely hope that she, her family, workers, and horses are safe after the recent Cyclone Harold and that tourists are soon able to return to her magical ‘Santo’ Island paradise.…

We were apprehensive about booking a horse ride in Vanuatu from the cruise ship as we were concerned about how the horses would be treated. When we discovered it was a kiwi woman who came from a town near where we lived, we felt a lot more comfortable about doing it ... and we weren't disappointed. We loved Megan from the first introduction, she was friendly and passionate about her horses, and when she told us about her property and how she got into the horse trekking business, we loved her even more. Megan rescues abused and mistreated horses on the island and rehabilitates them (not all unfortunately as they have been too badly treated), and has her horse trek business. She matched us perfectly with our horses (Danny Boy for me and Black Label (Blackie) for my partner). We thoroughly enjoyed our ride through the tropical bush and over farmland, even though we had torrential rain! Our ride/swim through the mangroves and onto the beach was an experience we will never forget - highlight of our 14 day holiday! Thanks Megan, you're amazing!…

Megan is an absolute legend. Not only is she providing a sanctuary for Badly treated horses from Vanuatu and surrounding countries, but also provides an amazing activity for tourists to see a beautiful part of Santo on horseback. I’m a very nervous person on horses and Megan accommodated for this by pairing me with a suitable horse (Tomahawk) who was super cheeky but gentle and patient. It’s about 7000vt for the adventure but the money goes to providing a safe haven for over 30 beautiful horses and rehabilitation for them. The ride itself was also incredible and taking the horses into Suranda Bay was such a treat. If you do any activity on Santo, make sure it’s this. …

A nice ride around the land and a little bit of water. Horses were well trained and easy to ride. You could tell the operator was very passionate about the horses and looked after them very well. She was very cautioning at the start to make sure you knew to be alert as some of the horses had been mistreated by previous owners. However, other than a very small scare with one of the horses jumping quickly they were all very placid. …

We heard great reviews by everyone about Santo Horse Adventures and the experience certainly confirmed it’s reputation. We are inexperienced riders, but Megan made sure that we were well advised and we had two beautiful horses that were perfectly matched to our level of experience. The trail ride through the dense foliage and the mangrove covered spring fed river were amazing. Don’t miss this fantastic experience!…
