Driving through Milton Keynes (that hadn't even been thought of when the canal was dug!), passed by the Great Union Canal - a relic of the motorways of the industrial revolution. Pretty walking area alongside the canal paths.

My wife & I hired a 2/4 berth boat 'snowdrop' for Sat-Tuesday should have taken it for longer to allow for it to stop raining! But it was what we wanted - a complete break from a hectic lifestyle. The canal experience forces you to...More

I take a walk along here every afternoon to take a break whilst working from home. It is always clean with hardly any litter and it’s usually pleasant.

Hired "Oak" from Wyvern Shipping for a fortnight's holiday, myself, husband and daughter. This is the best laid out narrowboat I have been on. Granted, it was one of the biggest, but little things like shelves along the wall by the bed for personal items,...More

Just had a 6 berth boat from Wyvern shipping for 4 days, great boat with all the comforts of home and exceptionally well maintained. We have been hiring boats for over 25 years and the experience with this company certainly rates in our top 3.

Rented our 45 foot narrowboat from Wyvern Shipping at Linslade for five days in the Grand Union Canal. Unfortunately this was a mistake as we should have rented for seven days! We cruised north to turn around at the bottom of the Stoke Bruerne locks,...More

This Canal is a wonderful asset for Milton Keynes but cruising is now not what it was a few years ago. There is conflict between the Canal and River Trust and Milton Keynes regarding housing. The Trust gets pressure from Milton Keynes not to remove...More
