Overview
More
From the early 17th century, La Couture-Boussey and its surroundings have been well-known for their woodwind instrument making. The instrument makers related to this area were pivotal to any evolution of flutes, obeos and clarinets. The tradition is today continued by a hundred workers and four firms sending instruments and accessories all over the world. In 1888, local workers founded the Woodwind instruments Museum to promote their art.

La Couture Boussey was the home of George Leblanc's clarinet factory. The museum houses one of three Leblanc octo-contra-alto clarinets and the one and only 1939 octo-contrabass clarinet. It's worth visiting just to see these monsters but you have to be keen on clarinets. I'm...More
