We were staying nearby, so decided to visit Gavalas Winery. It's easy to find and located in the centre of the village of Megalochori. Unlike some wineries, there is no vineyard; rather this is just about the tasting. You have the option to choose what...More

Had a very pleasant experience. Although I'm French and the whole tasting was in English the sommelier made sure that I understood everything. I was surprised by two wines to be honest, the white Katsano and the Natural Fermented Assyrtiko. Although I believe that the...More

After visiting a larger winery on Santorini, we found ourselves at Gavalas Winery. This winery has a casual welcoming vibe with good quality wines. The employees are knowledgeable and we enjoyed our interactions.

We went there to taste 4 different wines. Their wines are quite well quality, but they aren’t my first choice in Santorini. Their Vinsanto was very good. Lovely visit, but you have to book your table ahead.

The first winery we visited on the island. It was a nice smaller winery with only a few tables for tasting so it wasn’t very touristy. The wine was all very good. The people from the winery were so friendly. Highly recommend.

We ended up visiting 6 vineyards on the island and this was in our top 2. The setting within the village next to beautiful churches is a smaller quieter version of Oia so a perfect setting. Make sure you get lost in the village streets....More

The wine tasting was in a room with no view of anything. Just 4 walls. The wine was ok not great like Italian or California. Service was good. They were real nice but if you only go to one winery go to Venetsanos instead. Much...More

My husband and I went rogue today - we actually took the local bus from Thira (which everyone warned us about, but was actually easy and cost only 1.80e) to the little hillside town of Pyrgos. After exploring the narrow streets and beautiful old architecture...More

We enjoyed visiting this winery on a wine tour. The facility is very cute and traditional. The still have the old quarters for stomping on the grapes. The wines were good. I don't think there is a sunset view here as one of their pictures...More
